Continental Extreme Contact DWS on back order ???

Apparently there is a national back order on the Conti Extreme Contact DWS. I'm trying to get a set of 4 through Discount Tire (have to get through them because I have a pro rated credit toward a new set since my Falken's wore before the mileage warranty - no surprise). Just wondering if anyone else was experiencing this if any of you are trying to obtain these same tires? I'm doing stock size 225/50 17 on my 01 AE. It appears tirerack states they are in stock but as stated before I am going thru DT to get my credit of $200 applied to a new set. My total out the door price with certs and install came to $515 so I don't want to pass it up of course. Was going to be over $700 but thanks to the prorated mileage credit. I've been on a few of the BMW and MB forums and those guys seem like they have been waiting a while too. Just venting!

Thats a pretty popular tire. As you already know decent value for a decent price so offcouse there will be a demand. That and the fact that you have a common tire size makes the problem worse. Call them up and see if you can place a order to ship as soon as the shipments come in. Ive had experience in the past where I have called and they have given me more information then just what is on the website. Good luck.

I remember my place had to order them in and that was a few months ago. I had called 5 tire stores and some said that they could not get them due to being back ordered while others said i would have to wait a week or two for them.

Once you get them you will really like them.

I threw a set on my '03 (same size as you) last month and so far they've been great. I switched from 235/45 Proxes 4 to 225/50 Conti DWS.

I've heard good things on these as well. Did you try Tirerack?
