Any one have experience with the hankook v12's.. Im currently rocking the exclaims and i love them but they are being discontinued and i fear ill get a set that has been sitting in the warehouse for a bit. Discount tire told me they have about 15 left! I got another distributor that i wont say but tirerack only has two as well. No more generals uhp's, but if i really want a set i can grab some now..

Im actually rocking the generals on my current set up but im jumping wheel sizes to 18's" and cant re-use the tires.

Ive read the long review here on the org about the general exclaim uhp's but nothing about the hankooks v12's.

Im basically looking for summer tires since im in cali i dont deal with snow at all!

The general are having an identity crisis and i think are being marketed by some places as all season and summers in some but i like them alot!

Plus i here the sidewall issue has been worked out in the new tires and or just run a few extra psi...

I looked at nitto extreme 555 zr's too but it came down to the hankooks and or generals exclaims.

Anyone have experiences with the hankook... or recommend a good summer high performance tire thats quiet and has good tread life!

Im down to those two but im open to suggestions!
(keep in mind price is an issue right now.. so im trying to keep cost down..)

235/40/18 is what im wrapping my rims in.

No helpful input, sorry...but on a side note, I am actually interested to see how the General's replacement, the General G-Max AS-03 performs as it was just released. Price seems about right as well.

Try Bridgestone re050s also. The evos grip pretty good for their price honestly but the 050s are just that much better.

I'm getting Hankooks very soon. I've heard nothing but good about them. Even CarandDriver gave them second place in their review out of really expensive tires.

People who prefer performance usually don't care too much for treadwear lol I know I don't give two ****s.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Well treadwear ratings vary from company to company so don't always base your buy off of that.

I was just reading about tread wear ratings and it seems the ratings are supposed to be used to compare another tire from the same company and not another tire from other company's.

what kinda **** is that!

I had a set of the Hankook. As with all summer tires, they won't last you too long depending on your driving habit. They were very sticky and noise level was pretty low IMO. For sure I wouldn't mind getting another set. I think I got mine for $87/ea with $50 rebate for 245/45/17 at Discount Tires.

The Continental Extreme Contact DW got rave testing reviews from Tire Rack. It also has a 340 tread and AA raction rating. It also is offered in the factory 225/50-17 factory tire size with a W speed rating. If I decide to keep my factory wheels these are the tires I'm going with next. And Tire Rack has them for only $131 each, $524 for a set. If I get a wider set of 17's my top choice would be the Falken Azenis RT-615K in 245/45-17. A friend of mine had these on his heavily modded STi, and OMG these *****'s gripped like a cat on carpet! The Falken's have a 200 treadwear rating, which is really good for a street/track tire. It's also approved for SCCA street class racing. Discount Tire has these for $175 each, Vulcan Tire has them for about $155.

I have the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's (High Performance Summer Tire) on my car right now and they are incredible. Up until now for whatever reason I had a bad impression of Hankook and thought they made a crappy product; damn was I wrong. These things grip like any $220/ per tire I've had in the past. The thread wear is pretty incredible as well. The only thing I'd say is they are a little bit noisy, but it's not a huge beef with me since I always drive with the music loud anyways.

Honestly, I think these are the second best tire brands I've ever had on my 6th gen. I've had from Toyo, Yokohoma, Pirreli, and Good Year F1 all season tires (the best I've ever had in my car) and these Hankook's come at a very close second to the F1's at a much cheaper price.

I had a set of Evo V12s on my last set of wheels and I was pretty happy with them. They had LOTS of grip, but they felt a little numb. A set of Pirellis I had previously would give up grip faster, but I was more confident with how the feel through the steering wheel was.

Then again, Pirellis = 'pensive. Hankook = wallet-friendly. I think these are a great tire for the money, personally.

UHP's are not summer tires, they are A/S... although many people mistake them for it. they are crapp tires too. seen too many people with them blown. id go with a set of falkens or kumho

Actually they were listed as summer tires few place but the were listed as all season in a few others as well..

I think i went to generals website once and they were even listed there as summer but when they were about to be discontinued i went back and they were listed as all season! I think they were preping the UHP replacement which are all season tires and so it was some sort or marketing ploy!

So it seems as if they had an identity crisis! lol

Anyways im rockin the hankook evo's now so it doesnt matter i guess.. but one think i can say for sure about the generals is they can take a beating!!

I havent even made 500 miles on the hankooks so i wont comment yet but i like em so far! I like em a lot actually! but we will see!

Gimme some insight as to the crap tire comment. Do they have an unusually soft sidewall? I bought a set of wheels 2 years ago and had my worn out Bridgestones mounted on them till I could pony up enuff dough to buy a new set. They drove smooth and straight. Over the past year I've experienced excessive shaking and vibration along with abnormal wondering and pulling to the right. Feels like a huge gust of wind is constantly blowing the car around. I've had muliple front and 4 wheel alignments, plus I've had the tires rebalanced and rotated. The swaybar endlinks have been replaced along with TRE's, the front end still feels "odd". All of these things didn't happen until I bought the Generals last May (2010). So, are the sidewalls excessively soft? Could these tires be the root cause of why I want to run this car into a concrete median at 65 mph?
