Chipping rim lip

Was wondering if anyone has tackled fixing the chipping of an aftermarket rim lip. I have some axis hiros that are gray centers with a cleared lip. The clear on the lip is chipping and looks nasty, not just a little chipping but the previous owner didnt take care of them. The gray centers are in beautiful condition just the lips are an eyesore. I have had them since last summer and want to fix the lip and came across this.

Definately something i can tacle but wondering if anyone has done it this way or has a better/different way. The chipping/cancer looks like the ones in the link but way worse. ALso am i ok leaving the lips naked (no clear) and polishing them once a month or so. They wont see a winter so no worries there

I had that happen before on some cheap wheels. I sanded the lip down until no more clear left and applied three new coats of clear, all better. It was a while ago so I don't have pics anymore but that does work perfectly.

I was wondering would I be able to get away without clearing it in leaving it bare metal. I would probly polish every 2 weeks

Yup, sounds like the clear coat is degrading.

You can have the clear removed and the metal underneath mirror polished. Any high quality wheel shop can do it.
