5th Gen Rear Tire Rub

Looking for help from 5th Gen owners running 18"+ wheels, especially those running more that 8" width. How did you fix your tire rubbing issue?

Here's my situation:
I'm running 18"X8.5" +35mm on 245/45 wrap. Rolled fenders & clipped bumper tabs.

It was barely rubbing a little on stock height, but that's before I clipped the fender tabs. It's now on Tein springs and even with the clipped fender tabs, the rubbing got a lot worse. I've seen pics of some of the 5th gens on here running 9.5 and even more, with some pretty serious drops.

I'm thinking of going with a staggered setup with 9.5's in the rear, and have coilovers on the way as well but want to fix the tire rubbing issue first.

Looking for advice on eliminating the tire rub. How did you fix it?

Is that the correct tire size? 45 series seems a tad high, maybe try 40 series?

^ I've been told that a few times but for one, I'm stuck with these until they're ready to be replaced. Also, how do the 5th gens with even wider tires/ wheels get away with it?

Depends on what its rubbing on but most of the time rooling your fenders work.
but IMO go 40 series and i would not go with the staggered the max is a FWD

if you are lowered, did you re-center the rear beam? Are you rubbing more on the passanger side of the car?

Fenders have been rolled. I paid a small mint for my tire/wheel combo, so I'll have to wait 'till I wear out my tires before I can try a different size, so I'm kind of stuck for now.

If I go staggered, it would be very mild - an extra 1" in the back, making it 8.5" Front/9.5" Rear. I'm hedging though - not sure it's really worth the expense.

I bought the QT link, but haven't installed it yet. Believe it or not though, I don't have the issue of one side being more inset than the other. I'm planning to install the adjustable link when my coilovers arrive.

I was looking at it closely this morning, and it looks like (not 100% sure though) it might be the lip of the plastic bumper that the tires are rubbing on (the rear portion of the fender that can't be rolled because it's plastic). IDK if shaving it is going to make the fender portion of the bumper to flimsy though.

Just got back from the auto body shop & they confirmed tires are not rubbing on anything.but can't yet confirm where that rasping sound is coming from...

RUBBING ISSUE SOLVED!

Well, tire rub is gone, finally gone. Ridiculous what the issue was...

My rear wheels were sitting crooked! I don't mean bent rims or anything like that - the damn tire shop installed my spacers on backwards & they were sitting crooked! On our way to the SC meet yesterday my brother noticed, thankfully


Not only did rubbing stop, but suspension feels very smooth now! Well, thank everyone for you input & suggestions.

One side is tapered to clear the centering lip on the hub. Idiots didn't notice that
