Winter tires?

Hello everyone...
I know that it is too early to think about winter, but I found a set of nice winter tires for really cheap and I was wondering if anyone has downsized from the original 225/50r17 on the maxima se rims to the 215/50/17...
theoretically the only difference will be that the tire will just a hair skinnier...

a hair skinnier, and a hair smaller (the 50 is a % of the tire width..so a 225/50 is taller than a 215/50).

if your question is will they work, the answer is yes. The tires new? If not, make sure they ain't too old, check the date code.

He used the tires last winter for about 3 months... and the tires were made last summer... I checked the DOT numbers and the dates plus you cant go wrong with the michelin alpin x-ice 2 for $200 for all 4 tires...

My Winter Sport 3D are THE best I've ever had.

235-45-17 on stock 17 SE's.

Daily commute is 27 miles, but an increase in elevation of 2,000 feet, (5500' - 7500') so it can get hairy in a hurry.

That is my other option as well, this weekend I will be taking a look at the Michelin and the Dunlop... both have the same price of $200 but I believe the Dunlops have 8/32nd or 74%-80%
How do you like those tires? How is the noise level? Any change in the ride? The only advantage is that the dunlop is the oem 225/50 17 and the alpin is 215/50 17 so I might go with the Dunlops but wanted to see review is on those?

Well, it's a dedicated winter tire, so I wouldn't be getting to crazy on the twisties. They're quiet and smooth.

I opted for the V rated ones because I just sorta want to have that "capability" at times.

Snow traction is unbelievable though.

I am sold on them then... Sunday I will be going to check them out and most likely will pick them up... my size will be the 225/50/17 I am going to stick with the OEM specs, plus the seller has only that size lol, and yesterday I picked up a set of the 17" se wheels to mount them on so I will have a summer and winter set up
Thanks NmexMax for the review

Hello,

I don't mean to hi Jack your thread.

My old car was a 95 Chevy monte carlo and I purchased 17 x 8 (Eagle Alloys 077 5 spoke) rims, which were used at my summer rims and I'm having a heck of a time selling these. The bolt patters do match up to the nissan, I was wondering can I use those rim with Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 - 225/55R17 XL 101T winter tires ?
http://winter-tires.pmctire.com/enw/...7-xl-101t.tire

I live in Ontario, Canada so our winters are somewhat harsh in certain area, and my job requires me on the road most of the time.. I used nokian hakka 5's on my old car and loved them and decided to stick with the same brand.
