I drive a Maxima GLE 2001. I was wondering if it is OK or even possible to install a non original size tire? Original size is 215/55/16 and tire I want to install is 225/45/17. I got these new tires as free and I really want to make use of it. Do you guys suggest installing it? Is it even possible? Safety?

 

Sell those free tires and get the proper size

 

No, you cannot install a 225/45/17 on your car. Your RIMS determine what size of tire you can use.

 

What if I get new rims?

 

yes go on tirerack or look on your local used aids and try to find some maxima wheels tons out there just make sure they are 17inch rims with a bolt pattern of 5x114.3
