Is this tire damage bad enough to not mount?

A friend is going to sell me some used continentals but they have slight damage. He says it won't affect anything and it had no ill effect on his car. He also said it was from a curb.

I'm a little skeptical but I don't really know too much about tires either. Here's a couple pictures he sent. What are your thoughts on the mounting and Driving safety?

That is definitely curb damage. nobody really wants to tell you they will be good because its more of an at your own risk kind of thing. Unless you are getting a REALLY good deal on the set an they have good treadwear left I wouldn't do it. but that's just me.

The part of the rubber that is missing is the curb guard for the wheels. That is just empty rubber, and has no structural effect on the tire.
I would have no problem using those till the tread wore off.

That is okay though. If it was good or bad, all replies are welcome either way. Thanks for the advice

I was told by a couple people today the same thing. So I think I'm going to take them. Only 150 for all 4 so I'd say its a pretty good deal.
