Are Michelin Primacy good choice? dumping Dunlop sport
Buying Michelin Primacy MXV4 2155517 tires tomorrow:
Is this a good choice? Some have complained about some drive-ability issue almost like mis-alignment (maybe it was).
What sold me was someone here said they got 120K and still have good tread.
I also read in consumer reports and considered the Continental, but am opting for long tread life rating as shown and told here.
The Dunlop sport signature 93v s we put on in Dec 2010 have less than 30,000 are worn just about to the tread indicators.
Evenly, although the Sullivan tire guy, when checking the so-called 60,000 mile warranty said middle tread was more worn due to over-inflation. That and one was slightly worn from what looked like slight misalignment.
They had aligned it when we bought the tires.
Always thought the nanny tire warning light came on too often anyway. I always put just enough air in to humor it though I always thought they were stiff.
To get the warranty, you have to rotate, align and keep all receipts to even consider a warranty refund, then its about 20 bucks or so.
Sullivan wanted 192.00 ea. so 768.00. 55.96 balance,49.99 alignment, 4.00 recycling.
Consumer Reports lists them at 158.00.
Wife is itching to confirm to Sears tomorrow the estimate they gave us to be held for 30 days:
159.59ea for 638.36.
59.96 balance, performance (don't know if that is alignment too).
Maine environmental fee 1.00 ea. (Sullivan didn't list that) and 2.00 ea disposal fee. (I might put them on Craig's list to allow some poor guy to pas inspection or sell his car with them as they just passed state inspection).
Lifetime free rotation and balance.
Won't be driving a lot in snow, just the occasional one when away from home during a storm.
Oh, and there is 70.00 gift credit card if buying 4 from Michelin on top of that. (I didn't notice 70.00 refund signs at Sullivan, will have to look).

Primacy Tires
The 2012 SV went into Discount Tire last week for rotate and rebalance. Car has 26K on the OEM tires. When I asked the sales guy what he would suggest when the OEMs have to be replaced he was strongly in favor of the Primacy tires.
So I am just wondering if you did get them on your car back in December and how they are working out??
BTW, I am from Boston and know that Sullivan was always on the high side for pricing. In the South, Discount Tire is big and their prices and service are tops. All they sell is tires, no alignments, no front end work, no brakes.
Best of luck

Hello,
We ended up buying them at Sears for the above price. On the website purchase form, I could not delete the recycling cost, but they took it off at the store,
I was keeping the old ones to sell on craig's list for dirt cheap to anyone who might need them to just get by an inspection, spares, etc.
So far they were really great in the blizzard, but I think after a season or so they would not be that good. A set of snowtires would be ideal.
They are quiet, and they should last much longer than the crappy Dunlop's Sullivan sold us.
Glad for your note, I am reminded now to get a tire tread depth gauge to keep a check on alignment..
Sears didn't really try too hard to upsell us on stuff, we just had them mounted and balanced.
Good luck!

Smooth and quiet. I should get a depth gauge, forgot about that. Probably 6,000 on them.
I did not notice any drifting with them as one poster mentioned, and I was sort of expecting it.
Getting rid of the Maxima, (got an Element) but like this forum for the Altima better than any other site.
