Current Bridgestone RE960 are dry rotted due to me only driving my car maybe once a week. I have a company van so I only drive the Maxima on weekends. Didn't want to spend a lot of money again on tires so I decide to give these a try. At $255.00 for 4 I am not expecting too much.

 

Excellent tire for the !! Very quiet and good dry grip. I didn't expect the sidewalls to be very stiff, but its really not bad. The Potenza 960 I replaced didn't have very stiff sidewalls either. These tires a much quieter than the Potenzas probably because they are sport touring tires. Cant comment on wet traction yet, but if you want some good tires at a low price then these are it. Car is 13 years old so all I needed is some tires to last me 1-2 more years.

 

I actually just bought and installed a set of Nankang AS-1s paying $88.00/ea. for 235/45/18s.

Before I bought, I obsessively read probably 100+ reviews on the Nankang brand.

They've received pretty much nothing but good reviews and if I had to put a number to what I've found it'd be right about a 4.7 out of 5, which is better than some of the big brands we all seem to the stuck on.

Another thing I really like is the fact that even though they're asymmetrical, they're not directional ... so I can do true rotations.

 

Interesting. How's the strength of the sidewalls and tread life of nankang?

 

Tread life seems impressive. Sidewall stiffness for the model I got isn't that stiff do to the fact they are touring tires. I really like the ride quality though and wet traction, dry traction, and quietness is 9-10. Don't let the cheap price scare you away.
