Traction control/ ABS need help

My “TCS off” and “ABS” lights are on. Well, the go on and off at random times. For example sometimes when I come to a complete stop, they both go off, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they just blink as I’m driving, other times they disappear for a while. They come on and off together, never separate. The car drives fine. I have a 2000 i30, with 121 K. Thanks in advance.

My guess is an ABS sensor is on its way out.

when the lights are on, try to pull a code... if nothing comes up, most likely the sensor.

uh have you checked your brake fluid level? thats usually the cause of ABS lights coming on

uhhh

That's another wrong assumption/misconception.

Fluid level &/or ebrake not fully disengaged is the BRAKE light, not the ABS light.

ABS light is typically an ABS sensor, especially when coupled with the TCS light.

thanks. fluid is fine and that's the first thing i checked. the lights are not on anymore, but maybe rain had to do something with it, so maybe it is a sensor.....

For obvious reasons, rain or any other low traction weather situation would cause them to turn on.

no, i meant rain was responsible for incorrect reading or glitch in system or something. i've looked through parts online, looks like i need rear right and left.

Rain was responsible because of low traction issues, is that what you meant? Rain = more 'slick' than dry ground. In this case, you would not need the sensors since they're only doing their job. But if they turn on intermittently, then that would mean a problem with the sensor(s) itself.

So, you've verified that you need 2 rear sensors? How did you verify? Was it through an ABS code reader?
