Question Fogs to Park Lights

Whats Up Everyone,

I wanted to know if anyone knew how to connect the Fog Lights to the Parking Lights? Is there a DIY for this? I am not to experienced in the wiring category, so If anything, how much would it cost me to go to a shop and do it?

I just learned how to splice wires, but there are alot of wires in the car, how the hell do i Know which wire is which.

I also have to connect a LED strip this week to my brake lights..Any suggestions?

Grab a test light and do work. All you need to do is find power and ground then tap and you're good.

I was recently thinking about this as well.. I would like to run the fogs with the park light as well.. On my previous truck it was done though the fuse box in the engine..
How is it done on the Maxima?

practice on something besides your ride if you are just digging around and you are not to confident in your wiring abilities. 90% of the time a fuse will save you from a major problem but that other 10% can be very costly. Go play with some crappy old electronics and practice tapping into hot wires with fuses and grounds. Accidents on an old computer....will be no worries. Destroying your ECU due to an electrical overload or something will make you very angry.

Very true..I shall practice then! I just want to know where the wire to the parking lights are. I definitely know how to splice wires when it comes to colored wires and making sure nothing touches. I just am not quite sure on a Maxima. Would I take a wire and run it to the fuse box, or is there an easier way?

When I had my led strips I spliced into the parking light wires close to the bulb .. It's pretty simple... Ensure that the wires are wrapped separately...

Alright, but Funny Man, can you take apicture of which set of wires that is. That's my only concern. As for the LED Strips, there sold out.

I bought a LED Strip I want to connect to my brake lights, can you send me a pic of which wire or should I connect it to the fuse box?

How did you get to the parking light wire? Did you have to remove the wheel and fender plastic housing?

Regarding the parking light wires.. It's gonna be a bit before I can do that.. The weather went down up here in Toronto this week.. When I can I will put one up..
But basically if you find the parking light through the wheel fender follow the two wires and that's them..

All I did was turn the wheels all the way to the left or right and pull back the lining and you can see it from there...

Yep, I know exactly where that is and Okay, sounds good to me. But I have to splice the fog wire into the parking light? on both sides correct?

That I am not too sure about.. I havent done the fogs with parking light before..What you are saying makes sense to me though.

I prefer to be able to control the fogs separately altogether.

I guess I will chip in on this. I was the first to ever do the fog with park light back in 09. What I did was slice my fog wire to my park light wire. U don't have to slice both park light wire if u don't want to. U can either run wire from one fog to the other fog n then to one park light wire. But m going to make my fog turn on whenever I want by connecting them to a wireless remote.

Thanks K$, ya that's what I was planning to do as well with mine so I can control them independently.. I was looking into the 4 channel 4 function remote I saw on amazon..I believe Ghozt has that one....

well you would cause the ck type bulbs are a biatch to find and when you do they're pretty expensive and only come in switchbacks. i had to find that out the hard way so unless you willing to trow out close to 100$ for a set of led switchback bulbs you have to settle in for yellow lol. I had this done on my murano but Im not sure what exactly they did with it. All that i know is that my fuse box looked like it was hit by a wire tornado.

what i did was. i ran a wire from my parking lights to the fog relay. in the relay there is a ground, power to the lights, then there is a wire witch is a power wire that turns the realy on. i spliced the positive wire from my parking lights and ran it to the siwtch wire in the fog relay so when the lights come on it turns the fog realy on aswell and there u go.

i wouldnt sugest spliceing the parking lights right to the fogs cause it will draw to much power and it will burn the fuse bracket out. and then u beat. thats just my opinion

I'm curious: Where is this fog relay for the 2012 Maxima? I have not started to take things apart to look for it, so a very specific location or small write up will do just fine.

This thread is from April, but whatever.

I am liking this approach, please if you could put the DIY with pics...that would be a slam dunk on this topic! Thanks!

Why wouldn't you just hook up the positive wire to the power side of the relay so you can power on the fogs whenever the parking lights are on?

from what you're is it sounds like when the parking lights are on, the foglights are on the whole time. no way to turn them off.

Has there been any problems with this set up?

My understanding is:

1 - I need to locate the 'Parking Light Fuse' and then locate its power wire.
2 - I need to locate the 'Fog Light Fuse' and then locate its relay wire.
3 - I then would splice the 'Fog Light Relay' wire into the 'Parking Light Power' wire.

And I'm done? This would maintain normal function for my lights, ex. turning them to parking brakes, and on to full headlights. And it would also maintain the stock fog light switch, ex. as long as my Brake Lights are on I can toggle the Fog Light switch, thus turning the fog lights on and off without having my headlights on.

So you would just see my parking lights and the fog lights. Is this correct?

Last question is, what are the wire colors or how do I determine which wires are Power, Ground, and Switch?

TIA!
