Has anyone done a turn signal mod?
As you guys all know, the turn signals on our 2nd gens are simply that...turn signals, when in all reality, they LOOK like they should function both as a signal and a running light (dual filament bulb). I recently did the same mod on my Jeep, as the ZJ's ('93-'98) are set up the same way...turn signal only. The mod makes the Jeep look "right", also makes it look like a factory setup.
So I've decided to do the same mod to the Max. Anyone else here done it?

TA, a bit more complicated on the Max than it was on my ZJ. The integrated socket in the housing is for a 652 bulb (single filament, single contact on the base), you need to use a dual filament dual contact socket. If I delve into it a bit more, might be able to swap out bases, but it looks like cutting off the socket receptacle would be the way to go.
I first tried 1157 bulbs on the Jeep, the turn signals flashed at the "burned out bulb" rate. The Jeep's relay needs to see a certain amount of current draw to flash correctly. Swapped out the 1157s for 2357s and it worked like a charm...

So how does it go from a single BA13 to a BD13 and what is a 652 bulb? My Ole school Hardbody uses 1157 (BD13) and in order for a dual contact to work the socket needs dual contacts as well....place a 1156 (BA13) into a dual contact socket won't work....But if you have a dual contact socket (1157) normally they function as parking lights and a signal....
I didn't pull out the bulb to check the socket, but I would imagine it's a single contact (+) on the bottom using the socket base as ground. For a dual function light (turn and running), you would need a 3-wire socket, once again the socket base being ground. Splice into the low wattage lead from the running lights next to the headlights...
