Ir's are cheaper, the IX's than the OEM Pts.

Huh?

The iridiums were more expensive than the platinum and obviously the copper.

Not even sure what the IX's are..
I've read these are one step colder and like the higher RPMs.

Edit: Kinda glad I didn't see those IX's at the time.
I have a problem with buying what I think is best..usually the more expensive one.

The iridiums were the most expensive I saw at the time.
I think I paid around $40 for all 6 with a coupon.

I go broke too fast as is. Lol

Now that I know they exist though..they might be in next time.

I paid 8$ for my Ir's back in 2007 Vs the 14 or whatever it was at the time for the Pt's.

Winter project!

I'm going to invest in a HF transmission jack and drop my first transmission to see if it's just the pilot bearing that's not allowing me to get into gear or what.
Master and slave are working correctly as well as the adjustment.

I need it to last me a bit longer while I save for all the extra little parts needed for the 6-speed swap.

If I can fix it myself for under $250 worth of parts/tools, I'm down to try..but if I get too frustrated you'll all see my lw flywheel and clutch up for sale.

If there was a timing ring around for my 6 speed swap, I would just let my car sit; but since it's proving difficult to find, fixing this one sounds easier at the moment.

Pulled my codes last night after the monthly startup from the JWT ECU:

P1401 egr temp sensor**
P0105 map sensor=?~wires missing*
P0443 purge volume control valve~evap*
P0705 evap bs*
P1400 egrc solenoid valve*
P1445 evap bs*
P1105 evap bs~wires missing*

*= delete/can live without; unless someone tells me better.

**= I have the sensor and some hi-temp silicone tape that I am planning on strapping to the heater hose to fix this.

My question is: Do I need a MAP hooked up?

I can't even find the plug for it on my donor harness..hack job looks like.

I have two extra full harnesses..
one from a '96 I30 manual and one from a '98 Maxima manual; as well as a full 3.5 injector harness ready to be spliced in, just in case.
~edit
Ended up having to replace the rear section again due to rotted wires by the firewall.

It would be nice to clear some of these codes if anyone knows any tricks.
I think I'll have to either swap the main harness or swap to my '95 ECU to get the CEL off..but I like the extended limiter too much...so probably the harness swap with the missing sensors finally plugged in.

Any opinions are welcome.

The only "problem" I ever have with the engine performance is that it runs kinda crappy until warm up, but I was guessing coolant temp sensor on that one....but again, guessing.

Hell no.
Fixing a lot while adding the Cattman and the coolant plug stripped out on me.
I have a feeling it wasn't in the best shape before I started with it.
So now I have a big hole in the block.
I'll edit in a pic or two.
Previous owner had it capped off kinda ghetto by just cutting/bending the hardline that used to connect to a cooler and added a hose with two clamps and a bolt at the end.
I was using a plug off the back of the same spot on a 3.0.
It's the correct thread and length, just didn't want to go in more than maybe 2 threads worth then spun right out getting worse before getting better.
Needs tapped again I guess.
Not the end of the world..just feels like it.

Yea that looks pretty good. I'd wrap the front headers at least to prevent burns but then again I have lots of wires around there so...
Headers are beaustiful. I bet you or somone tapped the block for the new plug.

Thread chaser and RTV combined with hope.
The bolt is in there tight, but started to tweak sideways just like the last one did before it rounded out.
Just trying my luck I guess because I don't want to pull the engine if I don't have to.

Thanks!
I would've preferred to tap the block, but no room to work with the engine in.
Would need pulled to do it right and I don't own a cherry picker or engine stand..yet.

The headers and y are ceramic coated.
Wasn't planning on heat wrapping anything..
Thought about wrapping the y section that loops under the oil pan, but don't like the thought of it catching salt and water down there, so I ceramic painted the pan for now.
I'm installing slim fans at the same time, so hopefully that makes things easier to work around.

Feeling like I should just create a new thread and forget this, but anyways..wrenching tonight;(maybe till the sun comes up because I'm a night owl) and trying to get my car running again.

Using some crap called Cold Weld from Permatex after I clean it all up.
Nothing like using glue to seal in antifreeze

Maybe one day soon I'll hear these Cattman

Smooth sailing so far
I'll report back if I'm happy

So far it looks like cold weld FTW

I filled it up with coolant the other night and not one drop leaked anywhere.

VERY happy so far

Charged the battery, so after I tighten the PS belt, finish the wideband wiring, and button up the splash guard, I'm all set to start it.
Should be this Friday when my wife and I are both off because she wants to be there.

BobPez I'll get you that video of the Cattman running straight from the y.
I know you missed your opportunity on yours, so I'll be sure you don't miss this chance to hear them. Thanks again BTW!
