Airbag light and deployment

Airbag light and deployment
My son has/had a 96 maxima and the airbag light was on. I reset it but it came back on and on again. I was wondering if the bags would deploy in an accident. Well I found out that they will. Some girl(17) pulled out in front of him while he was traveling around 40-45 mph and he hit her 2014 camaro right in the passenger side. Car is probably totaled, but he least he is ok and the airbags worked!

when I got mine, No airbag light was on or any lights were on 2+ yrs ago at 125k miles, now at 133k. Sometime a couple months later buying it, my friend decides to put my passenger seat all the way back and down.. what u know next day my airbag light comes on, Pretty sure the wire underneath the seat was stretched or disconnected.. Haven't bothered with it since -_- Going to do soon though.
was curious if airbags still deploy in a accident even if the light is on.. now I know. But hope to never get in a accident, Never been in one in 19 years cause I am cautious when driving, avoid phones while driving, looking for idiots on the road and get away from them. no 17 year old should be driving a new camaro. Now her insurance is fked! well thats her fault..
Couldn't your son see that she was pulling over onto his lane? let them go onto the lane and step on the brakes. I always do. some people don't check their blind spots, and this may cause an accident.. I have avoided some accidents where people don't check their blind spots and are moving onto my lane, I either step on the brakes, move left or right(best one if u can move either way), or Accelerate. but good rule of thumb Is to make sure they see you on their mirror.
but glad ur son is alright.
