Air bag light problem

My airbag light came on about a month ago. I turned it off with the drivers door reset. Today it came on again. This time the door fix hasn't worked. Will sanding/cleaning the connector contacts help?... or am I screwed? Also, I live in Cali. Will I fail the smog test for a flashing airbag light even though it has nothing to do with emissions?
Thanks All.

I often clean the connection. at least check it.

My comments on this forum apply mostly in areas which use road salt. this causes corrosion and iffy intermittent contact.

it would help to know where the car lived before you bought it.
if the car looks rusty, the electric contacts are probably corroded in exposed areas.

Also from Cali. Had that light since I bought the car. I just ignore it after so many times I reset it. It doesn't affect smog check.

After trying to reset the A/B light for 10 days, I gave up on it. Today out of desperation, I pushed the connectors back together even though they did not feel lose. I tried the reset protocol out of curiosity and the light went off. I am happy as a hooker. I guess a very little lose makes a difference.

So wait what connectors did u push back together? I have had my airbag light on for the past 3 years, but I remember it happened right after my friend put the passenger seat all the way back and down, don't know if the connector got disconnected underneath it?

Josh, cleaning your contacts where the seat connects to the harness might solve your problem. You might want to look for a broken wire as well.
Having the light come on after your friend lowered the seat is a clear clue.

My problem was my drivers side under the seat. My wife lets water bottles roll around under the seat. I don't know which plug is to the airbag, so I pushed every connector I could see together. There is one up under the seat and one by the seat forward/backward adjustment track on the floor.
