Ask if you can swap it for a sending unit!

maintenance stuff - oil change, trans drain/fill
then replaced crankshaft seal hoping to stop an oil leak
somethings leaking in here:
halfass cleanup with new seal:
will have to see if that takes care of it or not
also pried the front passenger rotor shield back some, has seemed to take care of my mystery noise. happy that it was a simple fix

Good job on maintenance.

maybe, but i don't think the vq30 has an oil cooler kinda learning as i go here
i am pretty sure i have a leak from the rear main seal as well, since i am finding oil under the engine/trans connection. this leak will probably go on forever, since i don't think i'll tear this bish down enough to fix it.

After everything was leak free it still was getting dirty in that area.
Turned out the water pump was weeping and it was dripping onto the pulley area.
Now my p/s line is leaking, but it feels good to have a completely perfectly running leak free 3.0.
I feel these things will last forever. Leak down was perfect.

'03 SE TE. P1800 code. VIAS solenoid, but the solenoid was fine. It was the vacuum lines. Replaced them all ($3.00 worth of hose) and cleared codes. No more CEL!!
Also replaced fuel tank cap, cabin and engine air filters while I was at it.

I haven't replaced my cabin filter since I've got the car.. I'm just lazy if it isn't preventive maintenance or adds power..

Here's what I've done since May:
Oil Change (Mobil 1), Filter (Mobil 1, M1-105) Tire Rotation
JBL GX602 Front Speakers
O2 Sensor - H2S2 - Bosch
Trans Flush - Amsoil
Trans Filter Install - Magnefine
Power Steering Flush - Amsoil
Power Steering Filter Install - Magnefine
Oil Catch Can - Harbor Freight
Air Filter - Cheapo - Still planning on SRI soon
In Cabin MicroFilter -
Fuel Filter - OEM (Beck/Arnley looked like junk)
Rear Brakes - turned rotors, rebuilt calipers, new pads, (OEM - had a set already)
Drive Belts - Gates
ES Sway Bar Bushings
Moog Sway Bar Links
ES Front/Rear Engine Mounts
Control Arms w/ ES BUshings & Moog Ball joints
Moog Tie Rod Ends
4 KYB struts, 4 Febest Boots, 2 Moog Front Mounts
Alignment
Wrayth Passenger & Trans Poly Mounts
Items still on list:
Swap precats w/ gutted pre-cats
04 Rear valve Cover
SRI
ES Subframe bushings - maybe
Subframe washers - maybe
The car better run forever after all of this!

I hear that! Did similar repairs myself in the same timeframe:
- Rebuilt front suspension using ES poly bushings including motor mounts along with Knight's side mounts
- Moog front wheel bearings on both sides
- Moog sway bar end links
- Moog ball joints
- Moog inner and out tie rods
- Moog strut mounts
- KYB GR-2 struts and Febest boots
- picked up five 16" SE/GLE wheels and new Kumho Ecsta x4-II tires (one for full size matching spare)

Once I got in there, I almost regretted not replacing the inner tie rods, but I just didn't want to deal with the boots etc. It was a long enough day as it was with all the other parts. How was that particular job?
I'm loving the poly engine mounts!
I have to ask...how did you get your old control arm and engine mount bushings out? Did you have a press or did you take the hack saw approach?
#2702
I drilled holes in the rubber portions of both control arm and engine mount bushings, cut thru the metal portion of the bushing, and then peeled them back until I could beat them out with a 3lb hammer. Those control arm bushings made a real mess...
I pressed the bushings in at a friend's place with his input.
The inner tie rods were the source of much play on my car and I am glad I did the swap. I picked up the inner tie rod tool at Harbor Freight and it was pretty painless. The boots were worse than replacing the inners.

Pretty much the same here. I figured out a few tricks along the way. I'll probably start a thread with some pics soon. A hydraulic press sure would have been nice, though.
I had a feeling those boots would be a pain. Fortunately I didn't have any play.
I picked up the Harbor Freight ball joint removal tool. It worked great to remove my 14 year old ball joints!
Congratulations on the successful rebuild.

Yesterday I;
Finally installed the ES shifter bushings, the shifts are firmer, but still have the 3rd gear crunch.
Installed the NWP VIAS block off plate. Lost a little low end, but the top end screams now. I used to be able to just punch it off the light and roast the tires (along with some wheelhop), now it just pins you in the seat until about 3500rpms then the tires break loose all the way to redline. Feels like the powerband of my old turbo'd VW, and I love it.
Did the GAB, 8 3/4" holes. It's louder, but not aftermarket intake loud. Didn't really notice a difference performance wise.
Installed an AEM dry flow filter. The old one was a k&n and looked terrible. I never liked oiled filters on mass-air cars, so it got thrown in the garbage.
Went to the junkyard and found another 03 TE, so I robbed some parts off of it.
OEM drivers' headlight (my car had a DEPO light with a terrible HID in it)
OEM drivers' foglight (mine was broken)
Evap solenoid & charcoal canister. I broke the canister when trying to replace my solenoid.
Also acquired a free Test pipe from a 240sx that will be installed next weekend.
Fairly productive if you ask me.

Cleaned MAF, Thorttle Body, and air filter box. 16 years and it has not been cleaned once. Throttle body was filthy.
After cleaning them I thought the gas Gauge stopped working as it was staying at 1/4 tank (Took a Jerry can around just in case) , turns out it was just being more fuel efficent than it has been in years.

Had a custom 2.5-inch cat back made and installed. Exhaust guy said a 3" wouldn't fit with enough room so I went with 2.5
Knock sensor replaced
o2 sensor replaced
cleaned up the engine bay a bit

Not that it makes much difference but a 3" fits without issue. Nothing wrong with a 2.5" it's a great upgrade either way.

#2719
It'll be fine. I just wanted you to know it can be done. 2.5" is fine unless you're going forced induction. If you do then 3" would be ideal.
