Surge in rpm's!

I've been experiencing my RPMs jumping from 700 too 1000 RPM when I have the defrost and AC on. Has anyone experienced this? Info would be greatly appreciated.

Is jumping up and down several times? When the compressor kicks on, it is normal for the rpms to jump up for a moment as the engine compensates for the extra load to run the compressor, but it should fall back down after a second or so. If it fluctuates constantly, then something is definitely wrong.

I would reset the ecu, do some of the reset procedures. Leave the battery disconnected overnight. It's a cheap starting point.
