Going shopping, recommendations please.
I’ve just bought a 99 Se 5speed with 60,000 miles on it! Looking to get rid of the Bose system. I have two four channel amps, both older (Mtx puts out 40watts and the Kenwood puts out around 30watts). I have an older 10” Kappa sub and some cheaper MB quart coaxials that I might put in the back. I’m not looking to spend a ton of money right now, but plan on upgrading as I get more money. The things that I will need right away are:
HU with subwoofer control and xm hookup. I’m also going to need some nice fronts as well. I would like to spend no more than $500 on both of these. What would be your recommendations?
Also, what is the best bang for the buck in car audio wires?
Thanks for your time.

get an eclipse/pioneer/alpine head, search google for one with xm hookup, or someone might be able to chime in.
best bang for your buck wires would probably be Knukoncepts off ebay. for front stage id pick up some Rainbow SLC's from Don. you should be able to do all that for around 500... maybe a bit more. but you'll be happy with those speaks..

I can recommend the Alpine CDA-9856 which has XM capability (with external add-on) - it is $199 + XM. I had a Bose also. Here's what mine came out looking like:
That is a Nissan cubby underneath. I also didn't use a kit, just bolted the radio into the stock Bose mounting holes. I had to Dremel on the trim ring to get it to go on, but I think it looks much nicer than some of the non-trim-ringed installs I've seen.
