tranny fluid

my tranny was shifting bad out of 1st and into d and r. I changed the fluid and when I drained it I got out 7qts of dirty blood red oil. my question is how much do I put in. I bought the car like this so I don't know the recommended amount. stores say 7qts other maxima owners told me 4. I put in 4 drove the car and its slipping and doesn't show up on the stick at all. so 7? its a 95 auto 3.0.

Hmm, I'd want to know too. I've done the drain and fil awhile backl but can't remember how much I put in. I only bought 1 gallon jug today. If it's 7 quarts, there must be enough coming out of the torque converter and system to not have to disconnect and flush the cooling lines.

I'm having an issue where twice this week the tach was revving at 3-4,000 rpm only going 55-60 mph with overdrive off. So far it's been intermittent but I'd hate for it to slam into 5th gear while driving and wreck it.

Just refill it until you see the correct level on the dipstick.

I just did my first pan drop and filter/magnet replacement. Definitely a once in a cars lifetime job.

Has anyone ever seen the magnets and screen? The magnets looked like there were some metal spikes sticking out of them. I almost didn't want to touch it, then I cleaned it...and as I was cleaning it the spikes formed again in the oil that the metal particles were suspended in. Looked disgusting.

My screen was clean except a few metal shavings on 1 area of the screen. So many bolts to unscrew and put back that I didn't get to the flush part yet.

I just put tranny fluid in mine today. I had to put about 3 1/2 qts. But I would recommend using your dip stick to guide you on how much more to pour
