O/D question...

Hi guys,

I was wondering if you guys turn O/D off when running down the quarter mile? I've heard when running at higher speeds the auto's should be running in 4th with O/D off for best results, is this true? I usually turn O/D off after 60, but can't tell any difference. Thanks for the help!

yes leave it off... O/D off will prevent your tranny from shifting into 4th gear on the track which is what you don't need...unless you're running some serious mods and need that 4th gera

It really doesn't make any difference unless your speedometer hits over 125 mph or 6200 rpm in 3rd gear because your car won't shift before that at WOT.

It won't change your time or speed either way.

My O/D stays on at the track.

I tested this at the track before and it made no difference with OD on or off. So I just leave it on.

guess you 4 gener's have no issues with that...

my tranny still likes to shift into 4th early even at WOT
