you already trying to get ready for Aug 3rd? I learned a lot at my first time at a track. At first I only reved up to around 1500-18-- RPMs and then I got very small wheel spin and eazed down on the gas. This method gave me 2.4 60' times. I have been experimenting though with revving to 2500 RPMs and dropping the clutch, surprisingly I got little spinning. Check out the dragstrip forums, people are always asking on launcing techniques. With my 2.4 60' I got 10.1 in the 1/8. If I could get that to 2.2 I could easily get that to 9.7 or even 9.6. Just experiment doing in some empty lot or street. See you down there.

i dont have a 5spd but i know how to row the gears in them. when i drove casiddy's car he was impressed. any ways dump at 2000 and then floor it the same time that clutch is fully engaged. out of the hole a little wheelspin is good.(keyword :little) keep your foot planted until 6400 in first and in second, and just let it sream until the end of the 1/4 mi. at which point you should be at like 6500.

Im hoping your refering to 1/8th mile but by the time you reach the 1/8 you might tap the limiter. Keep in mind the shift will cost you just a bit of time but not that much considering your already in motion. Your call though try both and see which one work better. Also dont 4get tires make a work of a dirrerence. Just remember to not got WOT until the clutch is 100% engaged and youll be fine.

Well DO definetly use 3rd in the 1/4 you should be near redline by then, well actually you'll be approaching it 3rd winds to 100 I belive. Your car is capable of hitting that but you need quite a few more things to hit that mph Variable intake, ECU upgrade, ect...
In the 4th gens with the not variable manifold ive heard the car might be a bit faster if your short shift it due to the fact its got more mid-ranged torque from the long intake runners. Try a run were you shift it at 6K instead of redline to ride out the torque curve and use it more to your advantage. Torque is what makes you move and gives you the ET, trap speed is more toward HP. The higher the trap the more power your making, but the ET is usually up to the driver technique and torque. Unless you got the JDM manifold shifting at redline is not the best way to go because your losing power after 5000rpm.

Yes don't go to redline unless you have a MEVI. The maxima dramatically loses power after 5600 rpms. In first only take it to 6000, in second take it to 5800 or 5900. In third it's really up to you whether to shift into 4th or keep it in third. Without the MEVI you'll notice your car from 6000-6500 rpms works extra hard and produces very little, thus taking more time to gain speed. And since you have less power at 6500 when you shift to 2nd you'll peel your tires a lot of the time. Going to redline is only beneficial with a MEVI, 5th gen or honda/toyotac cars where they don't get power until 6000 rpms.
