I don't really know the question, but if you are 5spd Max, you ought to be able to beat the 1.8t by a little. My brother has one, and I beat him by .2-.3 when we raced.

Don't let them catch you off guard though. They can be underestimated.
He has a chip mod and that is it. If he gets a down pipe and a couple more things done to the 1.8t, it will probably be tough for the max.

I beat this kid's stock 1.8t over and over again. He never had a chance. All I have done is an intake and ypipe. They're low-15sec cars at best.

i ran with one at the track pushing 27lbs he says, and he got to 14.4 @ 97mph now that will beat any stock max without work of course and ive seen them run on the highway to about 140mph so they are sneaky little devils.

27lbs

You'd think that would yield better than a 14.4, are those things heavy?

no because i saw the turbo and its very small almost the size of a balled up fist. he doesnt care if he blows the engine but me and my boy gave him the side look when he said 27lbs. maybe if he spikes at 27 i can believe that. and like you said 14.4? im only running 11lbs s/c and i run a 13.5@104mph but either way the car is not a bad little ricer

yeah, i have a homie that is running about 18 psi, but its not as quick as us boosting about 10 psi. since their turbo's are so small, they have to boost hella high just to get as much hp as in a aftermarket turbo boosting 6 psi.
well....not quite as equal, but you get the point.

it's not always like that ya know. I do have respect for those cars tho. I have a video of one walking a bpu++ supra mkiv from a roll on. Just insane.

Oh, and for anyone who doesn't know, bpu is basic performance upgrades for the toyota supra tt. lol

The complete APR Stage III turbo kit ($4000) on the 1.8T GTi = mid 12s@112mph Now that's moving. You won't blow the motor because it's plenty stout, it's the stock hamster turbo that gets ruined by overboosting it.

maybe that 1.8t wasn't stock. no way that car would walk on a tt supra stock. and of course its not always true, like i said, i know a guy with a 1.8t audi with everything done to it that is freaking fast!

I know what car you're talking about. His name is billy, at least that's how he's known in the VW community on their message boards and stuff. His motor's built, his turbo's big, etc. It's anything but a normal 1.8t so you don't have to worry about a normal 1.8t being that fast.

I've raced a few 1.8ts, one I raced had apr chip, intake, exhaust dump, and maybe a little other basic turbo stuff, and I pulled on him a little bit on the highway from like 60-120, probably 1.5 cars. He had nitrous hooked up which he said he would not use (and said he'd never used in fact) so I don't believe he was spraying. It was a GTI, and the back seat and such were stripped out because it's an easy 100lbs savings on those cars.

They are pretty heavy!
Those little things weigh as much as our maximas, and they are a lot smaller.
Those Germans build really solid cars.
My older brother has one.
With a chip, and a couple of other things, they can be very fast.
My maxima beats my brother's in the 1/4 mile, but on the interstate, he beats me. He was hanging with a BOSS mustang the other day on the interstate. I don't know how, but he just has unbelievable pull at upper speeds(60-85).
Those are very underrated cars.

I'm going to the track with my boys modded gti, I think he may have the upper hand on me, cause last time he said he was running mid 14's with intake and exhaust and now he's got a few more mods,( chip, downpipe, lowered). It'll be a sad day when I lose

which 1.8T are we talking about ?

i test drove a 1.8t GTI and man that thing is 100x faster then the max at take off. that turbo just does wonders in the low end. but in mid to high end, its nothing compared to the max. the gearing is alot better too..... auto vs auto

That aim conversation insprired me to take out a second mortgage and convert my entire car to carbon fiber composites. My car now has a raceweight of 2400 lbs and runs 11's. Die.
