lacking power off the line
lacking power off the line
So I went to the track last week and my 60' times were horrible to say the least...Last year i thought it was my knock sensor but since I got that fixed its still a granny off the line...I have a weapon-r intake y pipe exhaust and i recently added a pulley to try and help it get off the line but i cant even notice a difference....So Im going next week, and was wondering any of you had this problem and how you fixed it. Thanx

There can be many things that are related to this problem. Here are some suggestions to think about: how many miles have you used your spark plugs? Exhaust leaking? Have you done basic tune up? Air filter, fuel filter, cleaning throttle body?
These are some of the things I did to gain some low end.

I have the same problem w/ my 96 GLE auto.
the best sixty I got last weekend was a 2.55, stalling to about 1800 with no wheel spin. my mods are cold air intake, y-pipe and 2.5 inch catback.
I am currently collecting parts for my 5-speed swap hopefully that will fix my problem

Two things that helped me the most getting off the line were lightweight wheels and removing the PS belt. I was pleasantly suprised at the difference the PS belt made. Unfortunately, given the pain in the a$$ factor for removal and installation of the PS belt, this probably isn't for everyone.
Last time I went to the track with no PS belt, I hit 2.23-2.28 consistently. Usually, I'm in the higher 2.3's.

i think it was the car...tried everything i could think of...no brake torquing, trying to hold it at 1200 and just about everything up to 2000...tried launching and letting off the gas and pressing it again quickly, nothing worked
