Are these times any good for an 1/8 mile?

Well I finally got a chance to take the max to the strip this afternoon. However I was a bit dissapointed with the times I posted I have a 99 cali. spec. auto. The mods I have are: frankencar intake with apexi dry filter, cattman y-pipe, and greddy catback exhaust.

This was my best run of the night.

Reaction: .165
Time1: 2.519
Time2: 7.103
E.T.: 10.775
MPH: 70.154

This was my second time at the track with my max. The first time I went my E.T. was a bit lower like 10.6xx but this time the E.T. was a bit higher and my overall MPH went up to 70.154. This is the first time I broke into the 70 mph range. I think my exhaust help my top end speed but man I just cant figure out why im still running mid to high 10's? Could there be something wrong with my car??? Thank in advance.

What was the weather like? You probably need to practice the launch a bit. The launch at the track is way different than on the street. I'm sure with some practice you'll be in the 10.2 range.

The weather wasnt too bad. The track really started to cool down when I made my last few runs. I had my tires set to 25psi but I was still spinning out of the hole. I usually torque brake at about 1500-2000 rpms. Then when the tree falls I floor it right off the line. Is that my problem? Should I just ease into the gas instead of flooring it?

Just practice your launch and try different things. One thing is for sure, your launch is killing your ET.

One of the things that I did to start practicing was to get a g-timer, and just learn what gets you the lowest 60ft times. Whether your car is best easing off the line, or just mashing the gas, you have to figure out your car. With mine, I wait to let the other guy stage first, then I start to power brake from the first set of staging lights. I continue to give it more gas until it rolls into the second staging light, and I let off the brake at the last yellow, or as soon as yellow with pro tree. I then press the gas pedal to 7/8 so I don't spray until about 30mph, then I mash it, and shift out of first into Drive. I will try to get some slicks so I can just floor it out of the hole. The littlest bit of tire spin kills time, so it is better to be a hair slower without spinning than to spin, and have to recover. Good luck.
