New personal Best...14.19@100.16mph

Went to the track tonight. I ran in full street trim with no weight reduction other than spare tire/ jack. The only mods that I have done since my last 1/4 mile track visit here were :

Cattman Headers
Cleaned air filter
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator (adjusted 2-4psi over stock)

I ran a :

60...2.172
1/8...9.202
mph...77.16
1/4...14.197
mph...100.16

other passes were 14.217@100.60mph, 14.381@100.27, 14.396@100.22mph.

Weather was not ideal, low 60s but with 100% humidity. My windows stayed fogged up the whole time. I think I also fried my clutch on the last run trying to launch too high but the new clutch is on the way anyway. I don't want to jinx myself but 13's will definately come in ideal conditions. I am excited to finally trap over 100mph though.

Who has the fastest trap speed for a N/A 4th gen on street tires? Neal?

Good runs. Nice traps. You gaines some heavy top end...23mph in the second 1/8. Wow.

We both have a PB of 14.19 now. I was running 14.2-14.3 last time out as well. Neal has traped 102 at streets I believe.

When I first saw the timeslip I was going to ask if you were shifting slowly or something, because the 60' was good and a strong trap speed, and a 1/4 mile time which wasn't as good as the 60' and the trap speed would indicate. Then I read on and found out your clutch was slipping which explains it.

The clutch slippage will affect the 1/8 mile trap more than the 1/4 mile trap which explains why he gained 23mph in the last 1/8th. Without a slipping clutch he would have probably trapped 79-80mph in the 1/8th and 101ish in the 1/4 which would be the normal difference of 20-21mph in the last 1/8th.

I bet with better conditions and a working clutch your car can trap 102mph

How much will my 225/50/15 hurt my trap

I just re-read my post and I didn't actually congratulate you on the 14.1 which I should have done. I think you will definately get even faster when you get that clutch fixed. So congratulations on the 14.1 now go get the clutch fixed and run some 13s. Also get some slicks for the heck of it

Mike- I don't know I will play around with it in Cartest later today, I'm at work right now.

nice time, excellent trap speed! Musta been psyched huh? you're obviously makin enough power to get 13's once any clutch problems are solved, good luck!

My clutch was really frustrating last night. It slipped a little on every shift, but it slipped bad one time, where it just stayed at redline. The stock clutch can hold the power, it just can't take the abuse. My best 60 ft times came from feathering the clutch out from like 4-5k rpm, but when I did that the clutch got hot and slipped bad on both shifts. If I did a low rpm launch, the 60 ft time would suck, but my shifts would be perfect.
The track was somewhat slick too, and I attribute some of the trap speed to some wheelspin. My first run down the track was a 14.9 @ 98mph with a 2.57 60 ft time. It was a very fine line between spin (tires and clutch), and traction.

How many miles are on it, it must be at the end of its life to be slipping like that under just bolton power. I say get a clutchnet and some slicks and dump it from redline

The clutch probably doesn't have but like 20k on it, but its a "stock type replacement" clutch, I don't think its a true nissan stock clutch. I ordered a Spec stage 2, just in case there are future power plans, but it should do fine as a N/A clutch as well. I might get some slicks too, you never know.

I was wondering what was your best time at Commerce? I hear most cars are at least a half second off what they could run there...

I have never been to commerce. I have also heard that most cars are slower there. Steele is only like 1 hour and 20 minutes away from me, its the closest I have ever lived to a 1/4 mile track.

Congrats Matt, you are just a great launch away from high 13's.

I went to Silver Dollar Raceway last Friday, and the conditions were horrible, couldn't best a 13.9 and 101.2 trap speed, that was down 2 m.p.h. from my 103 m.p.h. trap speed a week before at Steele.

I am going to a brand new track in south Georgia in a month or so, which is only at 242', and its right off of I-75. http://www.sogamoto.com/

Before that I will go back to Steele to shoot for my 13.5-13.6 best stock pass, as right now I have only been able to hit high 13's with bad traction, even though the trap speed has been high enough.

You should take the trip to south Georgia when I go, as the track is much better, from what I hear, than any in the south.

Thats a great trap speed too Matt, but I am sure you will get over 101, and maybe even hit 102 on a very cool night. There will be a LOT of unsuspecting victims of your car.

nealoc really knows how to run his car!!! he has the fastest times (granted they are on slicks) and he doesn't even have the highest dyno of us all....impressive!

96sleeper....did getting the adjustable FPR and adding 4psi of base fuel pressure really make a noticeable difference in performance? how did you figure out that was the perfect amount to add, dyno tuning? we're you really running lean at all?

I don't know if it made much difference. I have not dyno tuned it, just track tested and adjusted there. Based on many other dynos and my own, people with JWT ecu and other mods run lean all over the curve. I am not sure if this added any power, but it is a safety net for the engine. I will eventually dyno and figure out if it made any difference and where to set it.

All dynos will read differently. I bet if Neal went to one of the dyno's that some of the 200hp NA maximas used he would be around 190/185
