i doubt hes at 186whp, my friend has a 2004 gti with a chipped ecu intake and a bov (even though bov doesnt do any thing) well anyhow he put down 216whp on the dyno...personally went with him, so yeah might be tough and i believe they have long 4-5th gears so highway racing will be tough also

is it an automatic 1.8T maybe? but yeah a chip and a couple boltons should be in the 220whp range if its a 5 spd. You will probably have your hands full, but anything can happen.

What about the ones that have a 2.8 in them, like the VR6's?

My money's on the Maxima. My brother's 02 Max 6spd w/ CAI destroyed all the chipped/exhausted 1.8T GTi's from the VW group I used to be in when I owned a Passat VR6 back in the day.

Go whoop that azz

Really? Two of my good friends at school have GTI's. One has a VR6 and the other has a 1.8T. The VR6 is pretty untouchable, the 1.8 cant keep up. But maybe this is just a strange case.

^^ and i'd love to see him try to extract any more power out of that thing. the 1.8T has a zillion parts and options for it. the 2.8 doesn't, that's all i meant. stock the 2.8 is obviously faster but its more of the adult version imo

as for a max beating a gti, as long as his chip isn't some crazy stage III giac or something absurd you should be fine. electronic wastegate is nice though when you want cheap power

Hey guys, i think hes talkin about me....even though i never wanted to race him really, i guess its now "on". But any way, when i dynod at 186whp and 213.3 wtrq at 3346 rpm, i had nothing on the car that increases horse power but a APR chip. Since then i have gotten "a couple" more upgrades but also a lot of things that slow me down like heavy 2 peice rims and some body mods. Im up for a race anytime anyones ready, even if they really are as fast as they claim.

c ya at school...

EDIT: forgot about the wieght...it should be around 2800

gti is pretty clean. i'm not gonna lie i'm not a fan of your tails but to each his own. maybe thats the flavor where you're at haha. i'm not good with out of state plates either so i can't even tell what yours says...but i'm gonna guess maryland? never been there just a guess. i think you still have some work cut out for you if you wanna beat a 5.5 gen

02 Stock auto is about 14.7 ish.. Not high 15's, maybe if you took off the rear wheels and drug it down the strip.

Stock 3.5L autos run 14.7 14.4 6spd, typically .. STOCK meaning no slicks ..
The car he 99 SE-L ( from his profile, not his screen name) is equipped with a different engine than the one that states he ran a 15.5 in his sig

Our cars weren't meant for speed. But oh well ...
Screw the snailshell, drop the 3.5L in there. . .

you do realize that the golfs are family cars...at least my insurence thinks so...

my friend vadim personaly knows a guy with an mr2 with all the mods he has but an additional 3" downpipe...that guy runs high 12's... mean while were on the snail conv. given about 2.5k the gti can easily run very very low 13's to high 12's. It would take quite a few dollars for the max to get into the 12's with full interior and street tires...dont want to start another argument, its never going to end, everyone has there own opinion so just forget i said anything....sorry

Well put it this way stock 2002 autos run 14.7's 14.8's at the track,Couple bolt on's 14.5's,03 6 speed with intake ypipe headers ran a 13.50 last month his board name is JAY_PEE.. any org member will say that these numbers are true.

You do know there is a maxima in MD run 11.2 on slicks spraying 35 shot

My 4th gen (less power than a 2000) did a 14.8 bone stock on cheap street tires. Now that being said I now drive a MK4 Jetta 1.8T, and I will say that with an APR 93 flash, N75J, and TT exhaust, (all for about $1K) you will have a 14.0-14.3 car. A lightly modded 2K max don't want none of that.

On a side note, i do miss the first gear in my Max. First gear on the MK4's is real tall, hard to get a good 60'.
