The grand am se has a custom cold air intake, and the eclipse has an injen intake and rice muffler. I am stock with a mevi. I know those eclipse gts, 2000 or 2002 i think, are pretty fast, not sure about the grand am, but it feels pretty good driving it. Based on experience what do you think would be the outcomes? All autos, the gt has tiptronic if that matters

Is it an SE 3.4? If its the four banger youll wax it but guessing from what you said its probly the V6. Honestly its the ongoing argument of displacement vs. camshafts, its a 3.4 pushrod with only 170 horse but 195 tq, which is less HP but almost the same (10 ft/lbs) torque as the 4th gen 3 liter, although the V6 SE has less agressive gearing than the GT (3.05:1 SE to 3.29:1 GT) diff. suspension and the GT has 175/205, from different exhaust i think but NOT ram air, makes no difference whatsoever. Anyway, eclipse's i dont know that much about, the pontiac will probly take you off the line(90% peak tq from 2000-5000) but you should win anyway. Sorry for the long winded explanation and good luck!

edit: I just re-read that you have mevi, not sure what kind of power that gives you guys in comparison to the 5th gen vias but i wouldnt really worry about it now, a CAI in the grand am only adds 6-7 at the crank.

go to streetfire.net that could help prodict how fast the grand am is and the eclipse. you shouldnt have much of a problem beating the grand am. for the eclipse i dont know i havent got anybody to race me with. are you going to be racing from a stop or from a roll.

Why don't you just race and find out?

There are too many variables. What if either of the cars aren't in tip top shape?

Ok, the eclipse and I were pretty close, he pulls a little better 0-60, but i kill him in high speed. But the grand am beats both of us, untill high speed and i take it too. Both other drivers are LIGHT, grand am is like 105-110 and the eclipse is like 130-140. And im 230 last time i checked... When I drove the grand am and my girl drove the max it was pretty even, my max pulled a little bit. My max is in good tune with only 74k on it, so it shouldn't be too much off stock times. And there is no driver error possible because they are all auto. Oh when I manually shift the max im a little more even with the grand am w/105 lb girl in it. Maybe this grand am is a factory freak or maybe its the mevi.. who knows. Ill do a little experiment and put the usim on and go again
