Good to hear you got it working with the EU Jim. I figured the Aux map + the NVCS would do the trick.

I take it you got rained out at St Thomas this weekend? I was up at a cottage (as I mentioned) but I heard it rained most of the weekend down in KW.

I'm still looking for enough home-time to build my version - it will handle the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift automatically, both based on the MSD trigger RPM. If you use the MSD switched-ground to pick a relay, then you have switched +12 volts available through the contacts. But you knew that.....

Your dream of an automatic shifter for a manual shifter for an automatic transmission happened - congrats for another breakthough Maxima idea.
I used the ECU tach output. Never noticed any delay.

I don't want 12v through the contacts I want 12v to the relay coil because that is how I latch the circuit so it will stay open even though I throw the switch to be ready for the 2-3 switch. Here is a pic of the basic latching circuit. Where it says device I put a second relay which is the one that actually does the switching of the solenoid and the solenoid stays on continuously regardless of the input until its reset.

Hey Dan ya thanks again. I did go to St Thomas, it never started raining until I got there so I just camped overnight and sunday was fine.

This weekend is the 2nd Sport Compact event in Grand Bend. However if you want a cheap race day go to Cayuga on Sat. They are having their standard bracket event Sat night and T&T during the day. T&T is $30 and its $20 to race street at night. However if you go in the morning and tell them you are racing street at night they will let you run all day and night for $20 total. Good deal. I will be there and then either stay over there or drive to Grand Bend on Sat night and stay over there.

By having a 12v supply its much easier to build a latching relay. As it works now the 1-2 shift happens automatically and then I have to move a switch and then the 2-3 shifts is automatically made at the predetermined RPM. I tried a few runs at 5500 just to check it out and then raised it up to 7000 and its works fine, nice not to have to worry about missing a shift and still getting it to shift at exactly the same RPM every time.

This is also much easier and cheaper than trying to mess around with the speed sensor.
thats awsome,i should soon start to rig up my own automatic version as well. iv used the manual version a few times and its great, i gotta take it to the track for n/a runs. also did u increase rev limiter with the emanage?

I am hoping to get out this weekend again but it all depends on whether I can get the car driveable again. I'm not expecting my shifter support rod to get here until later this week so it might be a close call and maybe a late Friday night. lol.

Same as per DR mod. Its shifting a full line pressure.

The DR mod just makes the tran shift quicker, the power shifter does that plus you can get it to shift automatically or shift much more accurately than using the shifter.

wait a sec jime, that means ur not using the drop resistor at the same time as manualshift? im using the drop resistor mod as usual and also doing the shiftfast mod.

It doesn't matter if you have it hooked up or not, full line pressure is full line pressure but you really don't need it with the shiftfast.

so doing the shift mod is already using full line of pressure?

The VB upgrade only makes the shifts quicker like the DR Mod. This mod changes the shift RPM. Currently my trans is shifting automatically at 7000 RPM vs 6000 with the stock shift point.

THANKS JIME

Ur going to have to get an EU or upgrade ECU anyway, because the rev limiter is still going to be there even if your able to control the shiftpoints. Its still nice though, i use my shiftmod and feels awsome with the extra houndred rpms before hitting rev limiter. my 00vi feels very nice up there.

The two-stage Shift_Fast controller is working!

Today I finished my version of the Shift_Fast mod, with two functional stages for MSD-controlled 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I set the MSD for any shift RPM (below fuel-cut, anyway) and just floor the throtttle and go. So far, it's just been NA, but it's getting dark here and I'm going out soon....

Some photos of the earlier manual version and the automatic-manual ?? shifter for the automatic...

and the only mod that shows inside my car - a heater-on LED and purge switch:

Now I've got to decide where to mount the whole thing - any suggestion on how to keep it hidden ? I thought about the glove box - there might be room there.

very very nice. looks more like an explosive device lol just playing. but good work. I mounted my switches yesterday below my radio. heres a pic.

Now its time for you to get an EU, exted rev limiter, tune and become faster =)

That's clever - I could probably do a remote-mount on the ON/OFF switch and the master-reset switch no problem. Hummmm..... Suitably sneaky - I like it. Is that a purge PB? My prototypes are usually a mess, but once I get the circuit design firmed up, I'll publish it and you can build your own.

I just got back from terrorizing a few on-ramps, and have learned a few things:
With the MSD set at 6500 to trigger, and spraying just the primary 50-shot, and on street BFGs, the fuel-cut would just happen when the 1-2 Shift_Fast command happened. The 2-3 shift would cough big-time at 6500 and still cough at 6400 RPM. There seems to be a little delay in the whole process.

Still, the car pulled better in 2nd gear than before, which is what I want. First gear is just frantic - you know. So far, so good. There were too many cops on the road tonight, so I didn't spray the whole 125-shot. I still need to test that, but I'm going to try to make KCIR on Wednesday, so I'll try to sneak up on proper shift points.

I found out that I will also need a manual shift-up pushbutton, since the car won't shift until the MSD says it can, which left me rolling down the highway in 2nd gear a couple of times - too many cars to let 'er eat.

Lots of fun - it took me too long to build, but it's been too hot to play with cars....

is it possible to have 2 pushbuttons? one for upshifting and one for downshifting? that way you can have one button on each side of the wheel.

My question on this mod is would it allow someone to lock in 2nd or 3rd gear for dyno tests? This would be great to see the entire torque curve and to possibly see how the TC lock up affects it as well?

Yes you can lock i in 1st, 2nd or 3rd. and floor it in any RPM without it downshifting. So yea it is great for dyno. thing is, it might cause alot of heat building in the tranny going WOT in 3rd gear with very low rpms.

I think the other thread on how to do it is in this same 1/4 section. But if you can just go to the 1st page of this thread and read through everything, you will get a good idea of wat to do, i also have a few pictures along with grey99 on how our setup is like.
