First win of the year (ur gettin old Jime)
First win of the year (ur gettin old Jime)
Started a new type of race for me this weekend, Index Racing. Basically the same as bracket except everyone has to run against the same time so its heads up. There are categories from 13.90 down to 7:90 so to play it safe I chose the 13.90 and detuned and added some weight to get it to run the number. Timing was reduced to -7 across the board and 150 lbs of weight added. BTW I finally got it weighed, came in at 2720 which is heavier than I thought after the weight reduction I did.
First run I went against a new vette and had an r/t of .072 against a .633 so race was over at the tree. Also got a bye run and I ran a 13.902 my best of the day. Final was a great race against a 69 Chevelle with a 383 (stroked 350) with a converter etc $10k engine. I thought I had him out of the hole but it was close and we basically stayed side by side all the way and I finished a couple of feet ahead. We both broke out but I was closer. If you look at the slip our times were almost identical all the way.
BTW this is against a .500 Pro tree so my R/T's are a little high.
Next time I will move up to the 12.90 class which is in 2 weeks and the last race of the season for OSCA.

Not the prettiest car on the block, but functional.

Congrats Jim! Sounds like a fun day. For one reason or another I haven't been able to race since July, but I finally got the car back in good shape this past weekend so I'll be out next weekend, I think Sunday I'll be up at TMP. Maybe Sat too, we'll see. Gotta check the scheds.
So if it's indexed, then perhaps I'll go in next time, either the 13.90 or 12.90. I think the car will go 12.90 but haven't had a chance to get out and do it yet.
So the weight, 2720, I am surprised too given what I know you've done. I thought you'd be 2500. But was that # with the 150 lbs added back on then? And without you in it I assume?

This weekend I am going to Shannonville for a 3 day event, I believe they pay $1000 for street but there are usually about 100 entries and have to have street legal tires. TMP has T&T on Sat and Summit Brackets on Sun.
Is there a class with slicks allowed? I will take a look on the website tomorrow and see what the event is. Never been to that track...
BTW, what did you end up using for the rear window trim? In that pic the window looks decent, although you can see the reflection doesn't look quite the same...

Trim is black caulking, not pretty, I just couldn't get any trim wide enough to hide the rivets. From a distance it looks ok but up close my rough caulking job ain't too pretty.
Wait until the weekend after then OSCA is back at TMP for the final of the season. Great organization I will join again next year for sure, they have 6 events each season. http://www.raceosca.com/

I think you missed the part where I'm actually replying to Caesar and not Jime. Next time, read the whole thread first. And then, read it again. Here, the post right before mine:
2649 rounded off to 2650. Capiche?
It's all good though. The "retard" smiley is what ticked me off I guess.

Ahh my bad thought you talking to jime sorry
I need to get on a scale too... I was surprised Jim was that heavy... I'm a little confused right now to be honest... I know what both he and Ceasar have done to their cars and I would have put Jime quite a bit lighter so something's weird here...

Do you have a list of what you've removed. So you've stripped a bunch of weight but you still have full interior as far as seats, carpet, is concerned (if I recall correctly you have a pair of those lightweight summit vinyl seats right?)

Most of what I did is the same as what everyone else has done except probably the doors. No P/S, A/C, ABS, air bags, sound deadening, bumpers supports, battery, fuel cell, hood and trunk gutted.
Lexan windows in rear. Wheels, tires. No drilling holes or frame lightening. Wheels and tires of course as well as lighter struts.
