Mickey Thompson vs M&H Racemaster Slicks Automatic Trans

Last week I purchased my first set of M&H slicks, MHR-21 7.5/23-15.

Previously I have used M/T 3019 22.0/8.0-15 (8 pair) and M/T 3015 24.5/8.0-15. (1 Pair) Average is 125 runs per set.

My best 60' times have always been above 1.9 with the M/T 22's and above 2.0 with the 24.5's. Also the consistency has not been where I woud like to see it ie 1.93-2.20 under same conditions, pressure etc.

With the M&H's I did a total of 16 runs from fri night till sun aft. Runs varied between 1.89 and 1.94 which is only 0.05 vs 0.27 from the M/T's.

Also I could feel the difference off the line, there was a definitive jerk upon launch that wasn't there with the M/T's. Obviously I am sticking with the M&H's considering the above, I was staying away because I figured the 1" taller tire would slow it down like the 24.5's did, they increased my 1/4 times by .3 seconds compared to the 22's. Also the 7.5/23 M&H's require only a 6" rim vs 8" from the M/T's. I have mounted them on 7's and they are perfectly flat across the tread inflated. Pressure was set a 17 and there was no spinning or squeak on launch so it was left there.

Anyway just my $.02, take it for what its worth.

Thanks Jim. For the most part I am happy with my M&H's too.

My 60 fts under normal circumstances vary only 3-4 hundredths, usually in the 1.75 to 1.79 area, depending on prep etc and that's with a stick shift, so it makes sense with auto you could be that consistent too...

Pulled a whole bunch of runs in the 1.75-1.85 range on the very first day I ever ran slicks on any car whatover so they rock

A car with more power could do VERY good on 24.5's or 26's M&H's mounted on the correct 8-inch wide rim. They are notoriously sticker than the MT's, and be sure to burn the crap out of them.

Do they make that size? I think I remember seeing 24.5x8.5-15 in M&H, but the only 24.5x8.0-15 I could find is M/T.

That goes for me, too..... I use the 23/8.5/15 M&H on 8" alloy wheels..

This is from the last visit to KCIR. I was having nitrous feed problems, but still very consistent 60' - just not world-class times.. They do snap your head back.

60'.......1.986......2.033.......1.994.......2.059
1/4......13.463.....13.508.....13.432.....13.628

I think you'll have a chance to buy M&H sooner than you realize...... The wear-indicator pits look kinda shallow.

My size of M&H, new, were about $310/pair plus shipping. Jegs or Summitt, I forget.

Suck it in, you've got enough tread for a few track days there. Enjoy the slicks - you're gonna be surprised. Burn those down to the cords, then you'll be ready for something new.

M/T's aren't junk, I have done many 1.7 60's with them and they are the only tire I have used for the last 4 years. The only reason I tried the M&H's was their 23x7.5x15 only requires a 6" rim vs an 8" for the smallest 15" M/T. I have always had a problem with the outside of the tire wearing out way before the centre and I think its caused by having too narrow a rim.

k cool. im going to see how i do and finally spray from the line (never done it not even on street tires) and see if they hold up =) not going to do a burn out at first to see how they do n then go from there. hopefully I can bring that 2.3 to at least a 2.0 or something (75shot).

btw im going to be mounting them on the sawblades. so i might have problem like u did with the sides wearing quicker.

if you didn't use tubes they will empty themselves.
