Ok Wtf!

So i went to te strip today to race with my nitrous for the first time and i only improved my best time by .3!!!!!!!!!! i am running a 50 shot, the bottle was 9.5/10 full, and bottle was no hot. I was sure i would be in the low 15's if not in the high 14's, WTF happened? The nitrous is set to start at 3700 and end at 6000 rpms and i sprayed all the gears.

Best time with N2O:
R/T: .082
60': 2.470
330': 6.747
1/8: 10.221
1/8 MPH: 71.42
1000': 13.203
1/4: 15.717
1/4 MPH: 89.38

Best time w/o N2O:
R/T: .125
60': 2.338
330': 6.650
1/8: 10.259
1/8 MPH: 67.11
1000':
1/4: 16.052
1/4 MPH: 85.30

I cant figure out why there nitrous barely does anything for me, any input (other that the fact that it is a VG)?

Thanks,
Alex

Get a bottle heater and go back. You'll get better times.

what is your bottle and tire psi, did you have traction problems, what rpm are your launching at, need more info ????????????

I noticed your 60 and 330ft foot got worse which says to me tractions problems and your 1/8 and 1/4 mph went up which says your making more power

and set your rpm switch to 6400 right before the rev limiter, even if you miss a gear the rpm switch will shut the nitrous down so you will be fine

when you get better at launching and get more traction you and lower your rpm setting from 3700rpms

with a 55shot I went from a 15.7 to a 14.5 and I had my switch set to 1000 and 6500rpm and sprayed right thur the shifts (auto)

I forgot to mention this but i didnt really spin all that much i think i babied it out of the hole because of the nitrous so that is probally why the 60' sucks. And i dont have a bottle heater or pressure gauge so the bottle wasnt at optimal operating temp which is why i dont think i was getting good numbers, this means i was running very rich on fuel and lean on n2o.

Me and arron talked about it last night and this is what we thought was wrong...

I wouldnt say i am a bad driver, i was just scared per say about what would happen with the nitrous... I usually have some of the best R/Ts at the track where i race so i wouldnt condsider myself a bad driver...

But yes i do need a bottle heater and a psi gauge, ill get those when i put the nitrous in my VE becuase that has become the track car. Along with slicks and many other mods.

RT doesn't have anything to do with whether or not you are skilled at launching and shifting your car...

Anyways I can't really offer any advice other than get those 60' times down with some more practice I guess, they are really bad. With a normal 60' time of 2.20 your car would probably be running 15.2s @ 90-91mph.

I am not trying to say your a bad driver, just that you need to pratice launching with your new setup .. this is the only way you will get comfortable with the car and get your times down

atleast get the gauge which is pretty cheap, there are plenty of ways to warm the bottle without a warmer but you still need the gauge to see were you're at

I'll say it. you're a bad driver. your 60' times suck. I hit 2.1 60' in my VE with old street tires on heavy 17s..

with some good street tires, you should easily be able to get below 2.3s 60'

With that trap speed, you should easily be in the low 15s for overall time. Last time I was running at the track, I was doing 14.7s and trapped anywhere from 89 to 94mph depending on the launch. for some reason the times didn't change tho.

Matty you have a VLSD, my VG doesnt!!! plus i have street tires with nitrous so my traction sucks. I could probally pull a 2.1 with my VE but i havent raced it yet...

I was pulling 2.0-60fts with a 55 shot in a peg leg auto max with 205/65/15 street tires on sawblades with the tire psi at 17

like I said pratice a vlsd is not a cure it only helps and get a nitrous gauge, put your bottle under the dash with the heat turned up for the ride to the track

also write down what you did on each timeslip so you can compare what worked and did not

mph = hp
60ft = traction

a little "rule of thumb" math for you...

100hp shot of nitrous = approx 1 second faster ET
every 1/10 in 60' is worth 2/10 upstairs

if you 60' the same as you did on the motor pass, it would put your car to 15.50's area which is appoximately 1/2 second faster than you ran on motor. right were the 50hp shot should put you

very important:

know your bottle pressure and keep it around 950-1050 for best results
