We do have a Dyno Meet in the works right now for Feb 6th in Wilmington, NC. I plan on doing 3 runs to see what my power looks like right before redline. That will give me a good idea when to shift and what kind of gearing will be best for me in the 1/4 mile. I only estimate my engine to put down 260-270whp. If it was a 6spd, I bet it would put down close to 300whp.
Yeah. I can't wait until I can get more runs with this car.
I would love to see an NA Maxima in the 11s myself. That's my goal right now for the winter.
Yes, it's my DD. That's why I haven't cut the hood or trunk braces or cut the door beams. And I don't want to remove the trunk hinges or cut the spare hack housing out since I like using those things on the street.
I also have a 1990 Stanza beater that I use to make runs to the auto parts store sometimes.
Aaron the same thing happens in my Z. It took me alot of passes to figure out launching the car as high as I could was not the best thing to do. I pretty much feel out the car and launch it based on how the car felt and what kind of 60 I got the previous run. The stall on my TC is 3200 and I very rarely take it that high. My best 60 came from launching it around 2400 or so. I dont look down to see where Im stalling the car either I launch it pretty much by ear. I know how the car sounds when Im in the spot I want to be. I know its weird but thats how I pulled all of my best 60's including my 1.89.

I can't wait to see that thing on a 75-125 shot, Aaron. It's amazing how well the VQ35 responds to nitrous. I was only trapping 102-103 N/A that day that I was pulling the 111-112 traps on the 75 shot.
Congrats on the new record Aaron! Hope you can push it even farther over the winter, 11's would be nice. Maybe by this time next year we'll have a few N/A cars in the 11's. I imagine Jim will get there at some point, and I'm hoping to be back in the spring and shooting for sub 12 sec times with my own version of the 3.5 swap after (what will be) almost a 2 year layoff.

Thanks.
Yeah, that would be sweet to have you back out on the track. The times you were doing with the 3L were spectacular. I'm sure whoever beats this NA record will have a manual transmission though.
I'm doing all this in preparation to see how fast the car can go, period. I think nitrous may be the best way for me to do it. I will probably first experiment with a progressive shot to see how I like it. Some people prefer having more than one stage though. I'll try a progressive shot first and see where that takes me.
Haha Thanks.

Damn good runs, I especially liked the run against the SRT Jeep even though it wasn't your best it only served to show how great your car is doing against what is obviously an engine running over 500 HP or more.
Can't wait to see them 11s.

Thanks guys.
That SRT8 was FAST! Then I found out he did a motor swap to the 7L Hemi engine! Insane! No wonder that truck was right next to me down the track! lol

Thanks Nick.
Yeah, it definitely helps to remove the headlight and stick an intake tube out in front of the car attached to the MAF adapter. I can't believe I forgot to tune the AFR with the ram air intake in place. It leans it out quite a bit. I actually made a pass down the track with the wrong UTEC file in place with the ram air and it was very lean. I logged the pass and I saw a bunch of high 14s and low 15s for AFR. No knocking though, even with timing as high as 33 degrees on top end. But it definitely slowed the car down by quite a bit since I only ran a 12.6 or something like that. As soon as I removed the ram air intake and got the AFR back to around 13.0:1, I ran 12.2s.
The tracks reopen in NC in the first/second week in Jan. I should be ready to do 11s soon after that.

What size piping is comming off the TB ? 3" ? or 2.5" ?
If you could fab up a 2.5 inch pipe towards out the headlight and either make your on Velcoity stack or purchase one , it will help increase airflow which in turn creates boost.
I think once you log the right parameters for Ram air , you will def pull harder, probally 3-5 more mph on your trap and lower your E/Ts.
im sure you will nail 11s, now im sure you got your NWP spacers on them, What are your mods so far Aaron?

There are some tracks around here with races the first week in Jan. But, the temps have to be above 45 degrees and sunny for them to bother.
I've been using this ram air setup for several years now. This was the only time I forgot to tune the AFR with the ram air setup. It was a total lapse on my part. I usually shave about 1 tenth in the 1/4 mile by using this setup. My trap speed doesn't increase by more than 1 mph. I'm really only concerned about my ET though. It's all that matters to me.
It's a floor register from Lowe's necked down to a 2.5" drier vent hose attached to my stock MAF. It's always worked pretty great in place of the headlight. But now with the VQ35 and my recent lightweight battery install, I had to use a small velocity stack in order to save room. I put the small battery right behind the headlight. So there wasn't room for the entire floor register.
This is what my setup was at MAXUS 09:

And yes I have NWP Spacers.
My biggest mods are VQ35 swap with Deluboz Cams, headwork, intake port work, and a 2800lb race weight. You can see all my mods here:

12.22 is the current world record for an NA Nissan Maxima. We will be visiting the track again this Sunday the 28th to see if we can better the record.

Just last night, I was able to set a new record with a 1/4 mile pass of 12.15 @ 113.8mph. I had a 1.86 60'. The DA was 443' and the track prep wasn't the best due to the large amount of street radials that were there chewing up the surface. If I want to dead hook with these 20" slicks, I'll need to revisit the track during an actual points race.
If a mod reads this, would you please change the title to read 12.15 instead of 12.22? I didn't feel this needed a new thread. I will reserve that for when I see 11s NA.

I think 11s are very possible with the exact same setup I have. All I need is good traction and 50 degrees. But I still have more tinkering left to do to produce more power and make me lighter. The non-functioning ABS system has to be removed.
I need to do some more street dyno runs with the ram air setup to make sure it's producing the extra HP I think it's making.
I did a 116mph trap at a different track. But I spun off the line with a 1.9 60 foot and a 12.23 ET.

I was really thinking about Lexan at one point, but the reduction in weight is not worth the labor and costs. The OEM glass is pretty light to begin with and I believe I will only shave about 20 lbs by going with lexan all around, including the back window. I like the OEM glass too.
I hope to install a 8+ gallon fuel cell in the near future to further reduce weight. I also want to do some comparison runs to see if my rear bumper is acting as a parachute and holding me back. The Civic guys claim to see a noticeable difference in ETs by cutting holes in their rear bumper. If I find that to be true with my Maxima, then I will probably design a rear defuser instead of cutting ugly holes in my bumper.
