'83 cuts out at 2500 rpms

'83 Datsun Maxima, 5 -speed manual, 396,000 miles. I made the mistake of washing my engine lightly with the hose yesterday, and now I can't rev above 2500 rpms, or it cuts out for 1 second until it drops to 2000 rpms, then revs again. So as long as I stay below 2500 rpms everything works fine. Checked all vacuum lines, cleaned rotor in distributor, no loose wires that I can find, and it's had over 24 hours to dry. Any serious ideas? Thanks.

Just figured it out -- since it was getting spark and fuel, the only thing left was air. Finally got the electrical connector off the air intake manifold flap adjuster (stupid wire holds it down) and it was still full of water. Blew it out, and it works like a charm. At least I have new vacuum lines now. Amazing how brittle they become after 27 years.

I'm doing a 5 speed swap and NA to turbo swap in my 87 300zx this year. Not sure if I'm keeping or selling my Maxima, but if I sell it, I'll have a nice ECU for someone to upgrade their Maxima with.

2nd gen Gauge Cluster swap question.

Hi guys, I've got a 1988 Maxima SE and I'd like to switch to a digital gauge cluster, would the cluster out of a 300zx (I think it's snazzy) fit with slight modification? Would I be better off going with a cluster from a Max GXE?

Just a heads up that we now stock reasonably priced replacement CAS (Crank angle sensors) for the Maxima - same as the Z31 300ZX.

Any updates on finding lowering springs or coilovers? My '87 wagon is way too tall! I have been looking for weeks for a solution. I refuse to cut or heat my springs, so don't go there. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
