tranny slip
tranny slip
Ok, so my tansmission is starting to slip now, my max is an 85 with 200K miles, so this is expected. I was just wondering if anyone uderstands much about what causes them to slip, also is there anything to do about it, besides rebiuld and replacement?.

But what's cool is you can do the Level 10 mod to it, and make it bulletproof. Basically the slipping is caused by either clutchpacks that are really worned out. Also the Valve body could also be deteriorating, causing your problems. Either way, it sounds like your probably destined for a rebuild or replacement....any of you slush-o-matic experts care to comment?S

If you have the cash, and access to a parts car, however, I'd opt for a 5-sp swap...I'm hoping to do one myself oneday

Once they begin to slip, there's usually not much that can be done short of a swap or rebuild. In either case, if you stick with the slushy, definately get a tranny cooler. If you get a rebuild done, have them install a shift kit. It'll firm up the shifts, which will help the trans last longer, as will the cooler.
