sway bars

hi .... what do 2nd generation maxima owners do about the weak gxe sway bars? I have only been able to find an addco part for the rear but nothing for the front. Thanks for any leads.

well, fortunately the front sway bars are quite a bit better than rear's. You might be able to get away with replacing the bushings, but that's about it. I've seen some sway bars available for the 84-87 Stanza's that could possibly fit, but I'm not 100% sure. The next option is to custom fab them, or try getting a hold of 2nd gen SE front swaybar...which I think is probably a tad bit better. Not much to offer other than that.

The front ones dont need it they are pretty thick as is. If you look at the backs they are way thin. ADDCO is the best way for the rears. You may want to get new Struts to tighten up the front with a custom fstb. A couple of us have them on our cars. I do Maximase86 does and I beleive one or two others.

Thanks much for the advice. I didn't actually check out the front yet.
The rear looks like about a half inch ... which I suppose by itself
could account for the excessive roll. I've had the car 6 months and it
has been annoying me for a while but I've been too busy with more basic
repairs. Anyway ... I will keep your comments in mind.

Can you reccomend a store to get the addco sway bar cheaply? Also ... does nobody make a fstb for this car? It seems like a good idea to have one but new struts and a custom fabrication might be beyond my means and abilities.
thanks again.

I have not found the Addco anywhere except directly from them.

As for the FSTB, no one makes one specifically for our cars, but reportedly, one for a 93 Altime will work, with minor modification to the mounting plates, to line up with the strut mounting studs. You will also need an EGR valve from an 87-88, if yours is an 85-86.

Try Shox.com they have the addco rsb for our cars. For the modifying of the shock mounts you just dremel near the holes so theyll fit the strut mounts, not hard at all.
