Algae problems in a 82 Diesel Max
Ok for you non diesel folk, yes.. Algae, the fungi just loves wet muggy, warm climates and diesel. Not actually the diesel it self but some of the other break downs of diesel it thrives on. If a diesel car sits in these kind of climates it will attack the fuel tank..
Wellll, guess what.. I bought a Diesel Max that sat for a year. Luckly I knew about algae as a potential problem in advance and sure enough.... it was a bad problem. Finaly solved it I THINK. but then again I've thought that before.
I knew the odds were good no one in here new much about Diesels sooooo I have been lurking on a MB board to get answers. I have an MB dieselized Unimog too anyway.
Here is the interesting story of my Algae problems

you know if you were really desperate and had some cash to burn this is what you could do....go down to a pool supply store and get some algicide come home...disconnect any and all lines going to other places from the fuel cell....fill the tank completly full of algicide...mabe let it sit for a while...drain it (sump pump) flush it out really well pump it again...let the remaining evaporate...of course leaving the tank in the car while doing this is the noob way...your best bet would probally be to pull the cell out and do it or just replace it....
this is also kinda excessive but it'd sure fix your alge problem
