A/C Compressor pully and oil?

ok i got my new compressor in....i need to get down to the shop so it can get flushed and have new gaskets installed and then recharged but...theres absoultly NO oil in the compressor....and to top it all off the belts loop arround the crankspaft and alternator....so the pully on the A/C compressor....does that have a greased up ball bearing busing deal goin on in there or does it depend on getting oil....

and if it does need oil what kind (since i know it isnt regular motor oil) and where the h*ll does it go?...i checked the chiltons book...it either doesent say or the things so freakin big i'm over looking it...

I think that for our type compressor we use a type of A/C mineral oil. I can't remember if it's PAG oil or not...I think PAG oil maybe for if your running R134. As for putting the oil in, there is a place that is on the A/C compressor to do it. I don't have my FSM with me at the moment, so I can't tell you were on the compressor for sure.

see the stuff was in there was 100% pure....no O2 or any thing...so the mechanic didnt have to put it through the purifyer and he said just come back and we'll use the same stuff

Edit:

i forgot to ask....do you think that the compressor pully will make it about 4-5 miles to the shop with out the oil?

the compressor wont be running (no charge...dryer isnt hooked up yet) but the belts will of course spinning the pully for the alternator and from the cam shaft (?...crank? i cant rember which...i do bodywork)

(1) it's crankshaft.

(2) although not advisable, you can drive about 4-5 miles (usually more) with no alternator belt, if necessary, but your alternator ("battery") light will stay on. that's IF you NEED to remove the belt - I don't know if you can do without compressor oil or not, I do electrical work.

You'll be fine. As long as you don't turn the a/c on, the pulley clutch will not let the compressor turn much but still let the pulley operate so the alternator will work. (the compressor may do some rotation, but it's so minimal it like turning the compressor by hand). Hell you can drive around for as long as you want without compressor oil...as long as you don't turn the a/c on.
