Well, why don't you race them and find out for yourself? Don't back down because I or someone else tells you that you're not going to win. So what if you lose? At least you can see how well your car stacks up against the competition. Also, as many will tell you, there is some driver skill that is involved. However, since you're all driving autos and assuming you're driving in a straight line, all you need is fast reflexes.

Okay, here's how I think you would do:

1990 Altima - They didn't make an Altima in 1990, so I don't know what you're going to try and race. If it's a '93 Altima, then you should beat it. The Altima almost has as much HP and it is lighter, however it doesn't have as much torque. It would be a close race but I think the Max would beat it.

1997 Camry - If it's the 2.2L four banger, then you should own it. That car only puts out 133 HP, less than that of the '93 Altima. However, if it's the V6, forget about it, that car puts out 194 HP. Get a '97 Max and you'll own it though.

1998 Escort - Dude, it's a Ford Escort, I would never race a piece of **** like that. If you really want to though, you'll annihilate it. It only puts out 110 HP out of it's garbage four banger.

2000 Alero - Again, that depends on which engine it has. If it's the 2.4L four banger, it puts out 150 HP though it has less torque than the Max. However, it is probably a tad lighter. I'd say it would be the closest race out of all of the cars and it'll probably beat you off the line, though you may be able to catch up. The Alero also has a 3.4L V6 with more HP and torque than your Max. It'll definitely beat you, though it wouldn't beat an embarrassing loss, as it's small difference in power is also offset by it's weight and inefficiency.

Nevertheless, if you're going to do this, I'd recommend going to a drag strip. You can kill yourself, someone else, get a major ticket, have your insurance rates go up, damage your car or property, or end up in jail. I don't think it worth the risk to race those beaters.

yeah, agree with Charlie B!!!!!
no doubt. when it comes to red light action...good torque does come in handy! if ya got low torque, heavy weight, chances decrease. But just because your HP is higher in somewhat to others don't mean you'll win. Also think about handling, suspension, tire traction, road condition, etc. But face it, do this legally! Sh*t like that in the streets ain't worth it. I even know! But hey as long as ya show that your car gots game, win or loose!

umm well listen to what they say but...

altima and escort should be easy...especially the escort...i know some one who has one...weighs more less power...sluggish...but their large mother who wont work for a dime in her life drives it...so go figure

Here is how I see it, I pretty much

90 Altima....there isn't one, but the equivalent is the 90 Stanza. You would have a field day just simply because of displacment.

97 Camry is not a fast car in either 4 cylinder or V6 form. The car is very bulky. Its got some quickness in V6 form, but if you had a 5-speed with a few small mods, you can keep up with it.

98 Escort....ummm why are you even asking?

2000 Alero is a tough call, the 4 banger version should pose much of a problem. You will give a V6 a run for its money, but it will start crawling you because its got longer legs.

yeah, don't worry about the first three cars, you'll rape em blind, but i've driven a V6 alero and they pull hard up to 40, they'll definetely take you there, but it slows incredibly between 50-70 you could probobly take it there and it creeps up to 110 and does't go anymore and ive had my car faster than 110 so all around you would probobly beat it, so good luck. I have raced one and beat it but it was a girl driving so....
