Replacing Positive Battery terminal junction
Replacing Positive Battery terminal junction
The junction on the positive battery terminal is ready for replacement, but it has so many cables and the whole thing is so proprietary to Nissan, I was wondering if someone knows where could I get an aftermarket replacement?
I could imagine, that someone has already figured out how to convert this junction to a plain vanilla teminal post connector, that you can get at any auto parts store.
Or maybe an after market adapter of some sort to it?
(On earlier European cars, you only had only one maybe two cables going up to the positive batt. terminal, I don't understand why my 88 maxima has this cristmas tree there, it looks really like an amateur design. Similar to the location of the oil filter: no brainer.)
Do you know if new Maximas also have so many wires going up to the positive batt. terminal?

Note, this is just termporary. I will eventually replace it with a nice terminal, one of those pro-audio units, like from Pheonix Gold, etc...that uses set screws for all the leads, and feed the two smaller wires from a 8-10 guage wire, to a small distribution/fuse block.

Agree with MaxWgn -- I didn't do it myself because I needed it done immediately, but my positive battery terminal was just replaced a month or 2 ago. Nothing special -- old one was cut off, wires restripped and inserted into the new one, which has cinch-down bolts for the connectors.
Don't think it's any different than for any other car.
I'll take a closer look later today and repost if I find anything funky.

some aftermarket battery cables, particuarly red positive cables, come with 2 short leads attached to the terminal connector. one's generally thick, about 8-gauge wire, for the alternator, and the other one is thin. each one has an open butt-splice connector on the end. you can use one of these cables if you want, just hook the thick white wire for the alternator into the thick lead from the cable, and the 2 smaller wires together into the thinner lead.
