Hi, I'm new to this so please bare with me. Last year I purchased a used 1987 maxima. I have recently had trouble starting my car and have had to jump it using boost to get it started. I have now discovered that the battery keeps draining because the small clear white reverse light in the brake panel is stuck on. The rest of the brake panel is fine and responds properly when the brake pedal is pushed. Any suggestions as to why the small reverse light is stuck on? Thanks.

Sound like there is a short somewhere. Supposidly, those light aren't suppose to have power unless the ignition is on. Your probably gonna hefta take the car to a automotive electrician to check it out. Something is pretty messed up there if that is happening.

Thanks for responding. We finally figured out the problem. For some reason when you put the car in park the stick seems loose. We pushed it forward and the light went off. I think it wasn't engaging in park correctly and was maybe actually recognizing reverse instead. Anyway I'll just have to be careful when I put it in park and make sure the light is off. Thanks.
