Is your wagon an 87? One of my clients has an 87 wagon that
he's had since it was brand new.
His car's muffler has dual outlets. He claimed that Nissan started
putting on dual outlet mufflers in 87 for the Maxima.
I was wondering if yours was set up that way.
I might try to see if I can get an 87 bumper cover for my 86 so
I can put on a dual tip muffler...

87-88 got the dual tip mufflers. You do not need to replace your rear bumper cover. You will however need to cut out the notch on the rear lower valence a little wider for the 2nd pipe to clear. This can be done with a dremel and cutting wheel.

Very true...listen to Sarin, Scott. Yeah, mine has the dual tips. You could cut out the notch, as Sarin mentioned, but you may wanna make sure there's no bracing, or heat sheilding you'll need to add to keep the exhaust tips from melting, or contacting the existing cover.
With tax refund time coming up, I'm gonna start looking for a new glass panel for my sunroof, as I have one from a sedan now, and they are NOT the same...so it leaks like seive...

I was just thinking it would be nice to have the 87 bumper
because the opening has a trim piece for that "finished" look.
I've never looked at an 87 bumper to see if I could "transfer"
the trim piece over to the 86 bumper.
Suppose I could always use some door edge guard trim to
"finish" off the opening as well.
Scott
I know on the sedans, the rear bumper cover on 85-86 is physically different from the 87-88. The 87-88 bumper cover wraps all the way to the rear wheel well were the 2nd gen doesn't. I dunno if it's the same on the wagon however.
