Looking for a wheel upgrade for my 1st gen

I know they're 4 bolt @ 114.3mm, but I can't seem to find a decent wheel guide and I'm looking to upgrade to a 15x6 or 6.5. Can anyone suggest a good site to check out?

Well, you could get some 2nd gen wheels.....though I dunno if you really want to. Try places like tirerack.com, discouttire.com. Those are worth taking a look at.

When I had my 1st gen wagon, I had 280zx rims on it. But they were 14". Other factory rims that with the same bolt pattern: 84-85 300zx non-turbo, any 80's 200sx, stanza, and also rims from a 240sx will fit.

I found this today, http://kmhafer.datsun510.com/wheelchart.htm, it's for the Datsun 510, which has the same wheel fitment as a first gen Maxima. Hope thet helps a bit. The ones I had on mine were the iron cross looking ones.

Yes, note that the 510 and Maxima have very narrow fenders. Not all Z-car rims will fit inside the fenders. You must use narrow factory style rims that, on a Z-car, seem to be inside the fender to much.

The six-star 280ZX rims which are 14x6 are a great fitment. They look good although they are small. The 280ZX turbo rims fit nicely too and are 15x6. That is, if you like the look. They came in a snowflake pattern in 1981 and a linned "cross" in 1982-83. I think the later 280ZX turbo rims or the 14" star is the best choice.

Z-car folk can not find wheels for their cars at today's tire stores. They must be custom ordered with the correct offset and therefore will cost a lot. The 80's Supra owners run into the same problem.

However, you may be able to use FWD wheels with an adaptor. The adaptor you need will probably be more thin than the adaptor commonly used for the Z's.

I've seen a 1st gen with 85-86 rims. They look like they fit pretty well with out very many problems.
