is it possible that.....
a hole in the catalytic converter can lead to extremely poor performance and gas mileage? note that this isn't for my maxima, it's for my chevy blazer... but I don't know anyone else to ask. I recently discovered a hole in the bottom of the catalytic converter about the size of a quarter, and ever since then it's had a rough idle, been slower than usual, and eating gas like air.
not that GM (Garbage Machine) products have any decent performance to begin with................

my 74 Nova SS - 383 Stroker engine, one of 4,667 factory 4
speed cars for 74, & 3:73 posi.
Like I said, my Max does okay, but my Nova will suck the Max
in it's Holley 3310 750 carb and spit it out it's 3" Flowmaster
exhaust with out even batting an eye!
GM products don't have any performance indeed!

hehe I remember seeing a 7-8 second nova go against a supercharged M3. That was funny ****. The nova burn out should of scared the M3 off. By the time the M3 got going, the nova was already finished!!!! hahahaha

yeah, I didn't think it could adversely affect engine performance. I hear people hollow them out with a pipe all the time for better performance. Technically that's illegal in PA but there are ways around it.... I had an 87 VW fox with a reconstructed title, that passed without the cat. you can get away with anything with an R title
