I think I found my wheels...
but maybe not. A local supplier found me chrome 100 spoke wire wheels. They want $530 for the set. Would wires look like lowrider wannabe on a Maxima? My background is in British roadsters, so I think wires are ok. But looking at the manufacturer sites, it seems they cater mostly to the lowrider crowd. Not that I have a problem with that whole scene, it's just not what I'm looking for.
What I'm thinking about is like what OG wheels makes. http://www.ogwirewheels.com
Click on wheels, more wheels, the chrome one. I'd go with the three ear Boranni style knock off.
So, am I going to be spending a lot of cash on something that won't look quite right? Any and all opinions greatly appreciated.

Hmmm....wire spoke rims huh? Not exactly my cup of tea. If you like them, you should go for it. It probably won't be too bad looking on an 1st gen. But I have to see it to really tell you.

hmmmm original gangsta (OG) wheels, I have never seen a set of 100 spokes on a max before, I have only seen them on lowriders. But you could always put hydros on your max and have the whole look. But whatever floats your boat...I just put new wheels on my 87 I will try to post pics later.

I was afraid of that
The 100 spokes seem like they are laced too tightly. A 14" wheel should be around 60 to 70 spokes. I'll stick with wires on the Triumph and MG where they belong.
I really appreciate the input. The only other aftermarkets I have found are chromed steel 5 spokes. Nothing in an alloy...yet.
When I'm ready to go with the wires and hydraulics and boom tubes I'll get back to you so you can all come over and beat some sense into me
