Sold the Honda

for $2100. can't complain about that. it was a good car though. cos it's foreign. now it's time to do some nissan shopping.

I'd love another maxima. I'd love even more to get mine back. but with all the driving I do, and the way I drive (genetic leadfoot, gas pedal+floor=happiness), and the gas prices outrageously high, I'm tempted to lean a little towards a 4-cylinder. sentras are great little cars, and the two-door models from 91-94 don't look too bad. I had an 89 sentra and I beat the hell outta that car (I was 18, it was summer, and I just graduated. whaddya expect?) and that car wouldn't quit on me. and they supposedly get 35+mpg. fuel economy is really all I'm concerned about right now, at least until gas prices drop, or we drill until alaska, or whatever. I'll look around for a maxima when I'm a little more financially stable.

Werd. Good luck with search for another car. Maybe even look into and 1st gen altima. Those are suppose to have a little pep in with that KA motor.

The '91-ish SE-Rs are really nice...I almost bought one, but it was in the projects and my brother and I almost got shot at while looking at it (no lie) . It was black with a sunroof...looked nice. 240's get good mileage too, and both the SE-R's and 240s can take the SR20DET real easy. Even with that motor you can still get like 25+ mpg.

But as long as it's a Nissan, you can't go wrong anyway Good luck!

The Altima's aren't too bad. The engine is pretty strong. Even the automatic transmission. I got 22-23mpg with my '94 Altima auto.

the two most reliable cars I've ever owned were nissan products, that's why I keep coming back. I'm looking for early 90s when they started using timing chains instead of belts. I don't wanna replace another one of those for a while.

Oh oh oh! 240SX with a turbo'd KA. The SR20DET is nice, but if you do the KA24DE and turbo that, you'll keep the torque it makes and still make every much power as a SR20DET!

Either way, any Altima, Sentra, or SE-R will do you good....you might even consider an Infiniti G20.

Now that You've started talkin about 240sx and sr20det's of course you're gonne get a post from me... ive got a 1989 240sx with the engine out and waiting for an sr20 i'm getting from a group buy on one a 240sx forum... yes... the sr20s are sexilicious... not that expensive either! The turboed KA is a great engine if you have the know how, the money, and the resources. im sure after a while i could manage turboing that engine but.... the sr20 is practically a direct swap in the 240sx so... i might as well just do that.

The love for the VG still exists though.

The KA is nice, but the SR can handle upwards of 300hp on stock internals. A company called TODA racing makes a 2.2 liter stroker kit if torque is your thing. That's getting alittle ahead though, cuz that's like $5,000 job. A turbo KA is nice cuz it's legal in the US though.
But even if you do nothing to the cars, the 240 and SE-R's are awesome stock. Both can be had for around 2G's. Let us know what you decide.

PS - the SR uses timing chains too!
