Anybody ever use Lucas?
There are a multitude of treatment products made by Lucas, oil additives, fuel system cleaners, power steering stop leaks, etc, the list goes on. I've heard this stuff works wonders and I'm wondering if anyone's actually tried it out yet, and what they think of it. I'm new to oil additives and so far have been impressed with engine restorer and marvel mystery oil.

From the display at NAPA, you know, with the 4 gears, it looks to me like it makes the oil thicker and more sticky. I don't think it is something that would be beneficial to performance, may cause the engine to work harder. Maybe not, just my 2¢.

Actually in a sense you have a point however....I have not notice a performance loss. If anything, this should help performance as it makes the oil stick to parts that need oil, and allows them to work better since they are better lubed. Also I've notice the last couple of days when starting cold...my car would normally make some lifter noise for a few seconds as they repressurize with oil....it hasn't. Also, when using that display, is there any noticeable different in how easy it is to turn the gears with Lucas vs isn't? I didn't notice a difference. But that's my stance so far on it.

everyone's familiar with the 4 gears display. it must be a standard thing. I think the point of that is to show that when the car is parked for the night, the oil doesn't drip all back into the pan. I imagine it also has practical uses in manual transmissions and differentials, the way it sticks to the gears. supposedly, the lucas makes it stick to the valves and lifters and everything so that there's no delay in the morning after the engine is started to get sufficient lubrication. castrol has a new oil that supposedly sticks too, called "start up", that does the same thing.
people have been using standard motor oil for a century now, I'm not impressed by a sudden wave of new and synthetic oils.
