Leaking exhaust manifold

I've got a leaky exhaust manifold. When I accelerate is sounds like tat-tat-tat and increases with RPM. How do I fix this? I assume it is made of aluminum and has a crack where it's leaking, could I just weld a bead across the crack? Or do I need a new manifold?

You'd have to locate the leak, but you could probably weld it....however, VG's are notorious for breaking exhaust studs....so in all likelihood, your manifold is probably fine.

Which stud may be broken? The sound is comming from the manifold area I believe. Are you refering to the bolts holding the pipe that connects the manifold to the flex pipe section?

exhaust manifold is cast iron...if it leaks, yes, you can weld it, but cast stuff are nasty to weld with..
