Throttle Body?

What yeah stanza or 240 TB can I use as a direct replacement on my 87? I am curious because I just got a Pathfinder TB for my 4th gen and if it gives significant gains I am thinking about doing this mod to my second gen. Thanks.

What did you use to bore out your IM on the 4th gen? I have a 60mm tb, but I need to bore it out.

cardana24: 10 bucks + ship will do

Sarin: dremel with the stone bit works nice for porting..it's a slow process though..

70mm is what the fourth gen is boared out to

--and if someone else is ready to buy this right now from ^^ then by all means go ahead...this is just a thing I was thinking about in the next few months...I still need to get it hooked up on my fourth gen and go to the dyno to see if its a worthy mod.

-sarin, I really dont know what you are saying above. It sounds like you want to bore out your TB. Are you saying you need to bore out your IM for the stanza TB?

Funny thing, when I went to port my intake for the 240 TB, I found that mine was already very close. I barely had to touch it to open it up to 60. For all intents and purposes I could have just left it like that. But anyways what I used was a clean rag stuffed tightly into the intake and an air die grinder with a medium grit stone. Pulling the rag out took all the debris with it, and I used a shop vac just to make sure there were no stray metal particles.

Did you notice any differences in the car after you installed the larger TB?

I did the TB, air filter, and exhaust all at the same time. But I did take it for a spin with just the throttle body and it did improve throttle resonse, but you really have to do all three to see any real gains.

Yeah I was just wonding....I know it will not be huge, I already have a CAI and an exhaust, so I will be able to judge just this single mod.

An engine is basically a big air pump...

If you take more air in than you can get out, you won't
see much performance gains...

Same goes for the exhaust side... if you let more air out
than you take in, again you won't see much performance
gains...

When mods are done at both ends to get more air through
the engine... then the fun begins!

I have seriously thought about a five speed conversion!

Maybe I'll wait till the auto tranny goes belly up!

I still have a nice brand new set of 17" rims waitin to
go on the car... just waiting till I can afford the tires!

Here's an Ebay link to what my car looks like... this one
is an 87, but just picture it with 86 wheels and no luggage
rack!
