check out the sticky on the AAV (aka air bypass valve)...if this is bad it will make your car run rough on cold starts

I've got a similar hassle and haven't had a chance to look at the AAV sticky up above.

For the five minutes after ignition I have to keep the rpms around 1k, just till the temp. gauge hits C, then it's good from there. While warming the exhaust sputters a bit, no really a big deal though, right?

I imagine the time it takes to warm-up will get longer as the air temperature takes a dip.

yeah, the aav will cause the sputter you hear in the exhaust. I replaced my aav and it helped a lot, but mine still does it some. I went to Nissan and ordered the hose that connects to the aav because mine is cracked...once i get that in I will post as to whether or not it helped or not.

So it would be a good idea to check everything to do with the air regulator or do you know where specifically the valve is located. Thanks a lot.

ok, when you are looking into your engine bay from the front of the car, you see your motor, you see your plate that says 'Nissan, 3000' on top of the intake manifold....well its right behind that in your line of site when looking in....behind the middle of the intake manifold...it is about 6 inches long and it has an electrical connection on the left side (when looking in) and a vacuum connection on the right side. Hope this helps.
