Auto tranny drain plug... of spooky doom!

I've got tranny problems on my 85 and have acquired the ultimate goal of flushing the fluid.

Well, the plug is the 1/2'' female square hole and I can't... get it off. I've spent most of my time with my 1/2'' socket, pulling and pulling. I broke one wrench. So I got another one and tried pulling counter-clockwise, but not too hard, because I'm afraid of just tightening it, but if it's supposed to go that way I'm not pulling hard enough and it'll never loosen.

So, what i'm looking for is confirmation on which way I should be pulling or even if I should be turning at all.. I don't know, my arm hurts.

Please, this is my last wrench...

The plug is righty-tighty; lefty-loosey.....
It is simply about 1 inch in length with a permanent magnet on the end.

Steel bolts in aluminum holes sometimes have a bad habit of developing galvanic corrosion, it might help to give it a few love taps with a hammer to break the corrosion.

You've broken two wrenches now trying to get a drain plug out?

What kind of wrenches are you using? I usually damage the fastener
before I damage the wrench.

Best one I heard recently goes like this...
